Autonomous robotic platforms have become an integral part of industrial automation, intelligent manufacturing, autonomous transportation, precision agriculture, healthcare robotics, and hazardous environment exploration. The operational reliability of these robotic systems strongly depends on the accuracy and health of their sensing infrastructure. Sensors including inertial measurement units (IMUs), LiDAR, cameras, ultrasonic sensors, GPS modules, encoders, force-torque sensors, and proximity sensors continuously provide environmental and operational information for autonomous decision-making. However, sensor degradation, calibration drift, communication failures, environmental interference, and hardware aging can significantly deteriorate robotic performance and may even lead to catastrophic failures. Consequently, intelligent sensor fault diagnosis has emerged as a critical research area that combines artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and model-based reasoning to identify, classify, and predict sensor faults in real time. In this paper, a complete intelligent sensor fault diagnosis framework for autonomous robotic platforms is proposed. The proposed framework utilizes the integration of multi-sensor data fusion, feature extraction, deep learning-based fault classification, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance components into a unified architecture. Experimental performance evaluation shows significant enhancements versus traditional threshold-based diagnostic approaches in terms of high fault detection accuracy, lower false alarms and reduction in the latency for diagnosis among different faults with an increased reliability level on system diagnosis. These results demonstrate that AI-assisted diagnostic models significantly increased robotic autonomy through the ability to proactively manage faults, reduce downtime and enhance operational safety. The proposed framework is suitable for deployment in Industry 5.0 manufacturing systems, autonomous vehicles, collaborative robots, and intelligent service robotics.

Autonomous robotic systems are transforming industries such as automation, healthcare, transportation, defense, and intelligent services. A major challenge in robotics is motion planning in dynamic and uncertain environments, where robots must navigate safely and efficiently. Traditional algorithms like Dijkstra’s, A*, Probabilistic Road Maps, and Rapidly Exploring Random Trees perform well in static environments but struggle with moving obstacles, sensor uncertainty, and real-time decision-making. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has improved robotic motion planning through adaptive learning, predictive decision-making, reinforcement learning, fuzzy logic, neural networks, and evolutionary optimization. These techniques enable robots to learn from their environment and optimize navigation over time. This paper reviews AI-based adaptive motion planning methods developed before 2019 and examines their role in path optimization, obstacle avoidance, localization, and decision-making. It also proposes a hybrid framework combining sensor fusion, environment mapping, fuzzy inference systems, and reinforcement learning for real-time path optimization. Simulation results demonstrate that AI-based adaptive planning achieves better navigation accuracy, obstacle avoidance, computational efficiency, and environmental adaptability compared to traditional methods.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous robotics, and distributed computing has significantly improved the capabilities of multi-robot systems (MRS) across applications such as warehouse automation, disaster response, healthcare, precision agriculture, intelligent transportation, and smart manufacturing. A key challenge in these systems is dynamic task allocation, where robots must efficiently assign and reassign tasks in response to changing environments, communication constraints, resource limitations, and robot failures. Conventional approaches often face limitations in scalability, computational efficiency, and adaptability. This paper proposes an AI-based dynamic task allocation framework that integrates machine learning, reinforcement learning, swarm intelligence, and optimization techniques to enable intelligent and adaptive decision-making in heterogeneous multi-robot systems. The framework considers robot capabilities, task priorities, battery levels, communication quality, travel distance, and workload balancing to optimize real-time task allocation. Reinforcement learning supports adaptive policy learning, while swarm intelligence enables decentralized cooperation. Graph-based task modeling and utility-based optimization further improve resource utilization and minimize execution time, energy consumption, and task conflicts.Experimental evaluation using metrics such as task completion rate, response time, energy efficiency, workload distribution, and scalability demonstrates that the proposed framework outperforms conventional scheduling methods by providing improved adaptability, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency. The proposed approach offers a scalable and intelligent solution for next-generation multi-robot collaboration in Industry 5.0 and cyber-physical systems.
