Abstract

The current project deals with the creation of a Smart Environmental Monitoring and Air Quality Assessment System based on IoT to assist asthma patients in monitoring the environment and consequently, their health. The system was designed using NodeMCU microcontroller, MQ135, and MQ2 gas sensors, a temperature sensor, and a SpO2 and heart rate sensor. Using these sensors, the program performs continuous monitoring of the air quality, smoke, temperature, oxygen levels in the blood, and the heart rate. The obtained data are displayed on an LCD screen and uploaded to the web dashboard to enable remote access and continuous surveillance. In addition, if any of the parameters cross the preset threshold values, the system will indicate warning signals to remind people of the possibility of an asthma attack and the need to take preventive measures.
