Silvaspora fanjingensis and Silvaspora multisubtendens, two new Sclerocystaceae species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Glomeromycota) from Fanjingshan in China

Sep 2026 · Phytotaxa · 0 citations

Abstract

Two arbuscular mycorrhizal species were isolated from soil samples collected in the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve of Guizhou Province, China, and cultivated in monoculture. Phylogenetic analyses based on the ITS region and the rpb1 gene were conducted. Morphological and phylogenetic analyses indicated that the two taxa are undescribed species of Silvaspora, which are described as Silvaspora fanjingensis and Silvaspora multisubtendens. In the field, they were found in bamboo forests and Schima forests, respectively. BLAST comparisons of their sequences revealed no environmental sequences with more than 97% similarity to either taxa, suggesting that these two new species are currently only known in the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve of Guizhou Province, China.
