TL;DR

Non-coding RNAs are underscores non-coding RNAs as a promising therapeutic target, offering a potential avenue for overcoming chemoresistance in cervical cancer.

Abstract

Drug resistance continues to pose a significant challenge, accounting for a large proportion of relapses and playing a major role in cervical cancer-related mortality worldwide. Emerging evidence has indicated that the aberrant expression of non-coding RNAs, especially circular RNAs (circRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs) is responsible for drug resistance, which poses a significant challenge to the success of chemotherapy. Addressing drug resistance is crucial for improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden of cervical cancer on healthcare systems. In this review, we summarize the molecular and cellular mechanisms through which circRNAs, miRNAs and lncRNAs mediate drug resistance to common drugs used in the treatment of cervical cancer. This work underscores non-coding RNAs as a promising therapeutic target, offering a potential avenue for overcoming chemoresistance in cervical cancer.

The Role of Non-Coding RNAs in Chemoresistance to Cancer Therapies

Chemoresistance remains one of the greatest challenges in modern oncology and is responsible for most cancer-related deaths. Growing evidence has identified non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) as key regulators of resistance to anticancer therapy. These molecules influence a wide range of classical resistance mechanisms, includin...

Emerging roles of long non-coding RNA CASC2 in tumor chemoresistance - a review.

Malignant tumors remain a leading cause of global mortality, and the development of chemoresistance represents a major obstacle to effective cancer treatment. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important regulators of tumor progression and therapeutic response. Cancer susceptibility candidate 2 (CASC2) is an lncRNA tha...

Decoding the role of non-coding RNAs in HNSCC radioresistance: molecular mechanisms and clinical implications

Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) are the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer globally, with a stagnant five-year survival rate of approximately 50%. Risk factors include human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, smoking, alcohol consumption, and betel nut chewing, contributing to its genetic and molecular he...
