Seismic Impedance Inversion With AT0V Sparse Constraint
Abstract
Seismic impedance inversion plays a crucial role in reservoir characterization, and its resolution directly affects the reliability of hydrocarbon prediction. Although L0-norm-based sparse inversion can enhance resolution, it primarily exploits stratigraphic boundary information while neglecting intertrace similarity, leading to poor lateral continuity and reduced noise robustness. To address these issues, an impedance inversion method using L0-norm-based anisotropic total variation (ATV) (AT0V) is proposed. By integrating the L0 norm with ATV, the proposed method simultaneously exploits boundary sparsity and intertrace similarity, improving both lateral continuity and noise robustness. The AT0V constraint and the initial model constraint are jointly used to formulate the objective function. An efficient alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) framework combined with the Bartels–Stewart algorithm is developed to solve the objective function. Results from synthetic and field data demonstrate that the proposed method achieves inversion with better lateral continuity and stronger noise robustness than the conventional L0-norm-based method while maintaining high computational efficiency.
