Abstract
Highlights • Individuals with type 1 diabetes face high cardiovascular risk and mortality.• Steno type 1 risk engine helps identify cardiovascular risk in type 1 diabetes.• Retinopathy, late diagnosis, hs-CRP, and uric acid can be correlated to high cardiovascular risk.• Cardioprotective drugs are underused in moderate and high-risk Brazilian individuals with T1D.• Identifying risk factors may improve prevention of cardiovascular disease in individuals with T1D.
