Abstract

We present PACR-Video, a parameter-efficient framework for multi-shot long video extrapolation that preserves recurring entities, scene structure, visual style, and causal progression without full generator fine-tuning. PACR-Video keeps a text-to-video diffusion transformer frozen and augments it with low-rank temporal adapters conditioned by learned shot-role prompt tokens. To maintain long-horizon coherence, it builds a recursive prompt bank that stores compact entity, location, action, and style prompts from previous shots, then routes them through adapter gates according to predicted narrative dependencies. A Shot-Local/Story-Global tuning objective combines next-shot reconstruction, cross-shot identity contrast, and prompt sparsity regularization, while an adapter composition schedule balances early-shot visual consistency with later-shot event progression and viewpoint change. Across six multi-shot and long-video benchmarks, PACR-Video outperforms text-to-video, tuning-based, memory-augmented, streaming, and recursive-context baselines on distributional quality, semantic alignment, identity consistency, temporal smoothness, motion stability, transition coherence, and human preference. These results show that compact prompt routing and lightweight temporal adaptation provide sufficient controllable capacity for stable long video extrapolation.

Multi-Grid Post-Training for Long-Form Multi-Shot Video Generation

Generating long-form multi-shot videos requires coherent within-shot motion and visually consistent narratives across shots. Existing video generators favor continuous motion and struggle to present complete shot sets when an entire narrative is packed along one temporal axis. We propose MovieGrid, a Multi-Grid Post-Training paradigm that decomposes a long video into shorter, temporally ordered chunks and arranges them on a spatial grid for joint modeling. This design reduces the number of shots handled by each temporal axis while enabling global information exchange across chunks. We construct the Multi-Grid Long Video (MGLV) dataset from 1,000 long-form videos using source video collection, hierarchical segmentation, grid video construction, and character-aware story annotation, producing 54K grid videos paired with story prompts. Our Noise-Free Random-Grid Training retains a random subset of chunks as clean visual context for denoising the remaining chunks. Grid Embedding encodes grid structure, character-aware Story Prompts link recurring entities, and Grid Boundary Loss stabilizes layouts. Under the same token budget, MovieGrid generates 6.05 times more shots than Temporal Packing in a 1,616-frame video. On a benchmark spanning five real-world categories, it achieves state-of-the-art intra-shot consistency (0.9131 versus 0.8086 for HoloCine) and inter-shot consistency (0.5914 versus 0.5384 for StoryMem). MovieGrid can further scale video length with minimal compromise through single or multiple generations.

ContextMaster: Interactive Multi-Shot Video Creation via Fixed-Budget Sparse Context Routing

Recent video models increasingly support generation, reference conditioning, and editing within a single model, yet typically expose them as separate operations over fixed inputs. Practical creation unfolds across multiple shots, requiring one model to generate from text, follow a reference, or edit source footage while maintaining shared history. We formalize this setting as interactive multi-shot video creation (IMVC) and introduce ContextMaster, a unified model with a role-aware context representation for these operations. An interactive model must retain access to an expanding history without allowing the context read cost at each denoising step to grow. ContextMaster combines reusable clean context states with fixed budget sparse context routing and uses ConstraintSink to keep task constraints visible. To address the dual challenges of sparse context access and inference with few denoising steps, we propose a two-stage privileged context distillation framework, which transfers full context behavior from a dense teacher through consistency distillation and then refines deployment rollouts with distribution matching. Experiments on the three primitive tasks demonstrate improved task fulfillment and consistency across shots over specialized baselines. User studies further validate flexibly composed workflows, while the model reaches 16 FPS on a single GPU.

Beyond Coherence: Benchmarking Professional Editing-Technique Execution in Multi-Shot Audio-Video Generation

Recent multi-shot audio-video generators can produce increasingly coherent and cinematic outputs, but coherence does not imply the ability to execute editing techniques. Professional editing depends on shot structure, transition grammar, audio-video cut relations, and montage, yet existing benchmarks largely rely on proxies such as content quality, synchronization, or physical plausibility, systematically missing whether such editing instructions are actually executed. We introduce CutCraft, the first benchmark for editing-technique execution in multi-shot audio-video generation. CutCraft extends structured multi-shot prompts with explicit editing specifications and is paired with a hierarchical hybrid evaluation framework that combines shot-structure alignment, expert-model metrics, tool-grounded multimodal judgment, and rubric-based question answering. Beyond evaluation, we design an agentic editing baseline that decomposes generation into planning, shot-level synthesis, and post-hoc composition, explicitly realizing editing semantics such as J-cuts, L-cuts, and transition timing. Across 13 state-of-the-art closed- and open-source models, CutCraft reveals a consistent gap between coherence and editing-technique execution: current systems often produce plausible multi-shot videos yet fail to execute editorial instructions reliably. We find unstable shot structures, weak control of transition execution, and sharp degradation on higher-order montage, while aesthetic quality is only weakly correlated with editing-technique compliance. CineWeaver: Training-Free Reference-Controllable Multi-Shot Long Video Generation for Cinematic Storytelling

Cinematic video generation is challenging for text-to-video diffusion models due to concurrent requirements on multi-shot generation, fine-grained controllability over characters and scenes, and long-form generation across extended temporal horizons. Existing methods rely on customization and retraining to separately address specific requirements, and cannot simultaneously fulfill all the requirements with a unified framework. In this paper, we shed light on the training-free paradigm with the key insight that the difficulty of multi-shot generation arises from a structural bias toward temporal continuity in pretrained video diffusion models, and consequently, propose a unified framework named CineWeaver to achieve reference-controllable multi-shot long-video generation without retraining. We manipulate positional encoding and attention patterns to break temporal continuity during inference to enable clear shot transitions using pretrained video diffusion models. Furthermore, we extend the proposed framework with a shot-routed reference conditioning mechanism for per-shot fine-grained controllability, and develop an anchor memory mechanism to allow long-form generation with consistent global appearance cues. To our best knowledge, CineWeaver is the first unified framework to simultaneously enable \textbf{long-form}, \textbf{reference-controllable}, and \textbf{multi-shot} video generation in a training-free fashion. Experimental results demonstrate that CineWeaver produces high-quality cinematic videos of long durations with consistent identities, stable global appearance, and clear shot transitions. Beyond Frame Selection: Rethinking Long-Video Understanding with MLLMs

VideoRouter (VR) is proposed that rethinks long-video understanding as coordinating complementary evidence views rather than selecting a single subset of frames, and introduces a verification-guided router to determine which view is better supported by the selected evidence and select the final answer.
