Abstract
Mining activities, particularly uranium extraction processes, have significant ecological impacts on environmental systems, leading to the dispersion of radionuclides into soil, water, and the atmosphere. This study aims to assess the ecological condition of degraded lands in the Northern Kanimex uranium deposit area and to develop methodological approaches for their restoration. A comprehensive approach was employed in the research, including field observations, laboratory analyses, and environmental monitoring. The morphometric parameters (area, depth, and volume) of two disturbed sites were analyzed, and meteorological conditions as well as radiation background levels were measured. The results showed that although the sites have similar areas, differences in depth and contamination levels reflect varying intensities of anthropogenic impact. The arid continental climate conditions also influence the migration of pollutants and soil degradation processes. Based on the obtained results, the relationship between geological conditions and ecological disturbance was identified. The study demonstrates the necessity of effectively implementing soil deactivation and reclamation processes in uranium mining areas.
Technogenic soil pollution with heavy metals is one of the key factors of environmental risk in the industrial regions of the East Kazakhstan region. The paper presents a comprehensive assessment of the agro-ecological condition of soils in the zones of influence of mining and metallurgical enterprises with the analysi...

Currently, the scale of mineral development is rapidly increasing, leading to environmental pollution. Therefore, there is an urgent need to study the comprehensive response of the ecosystem to increasing anthropogenic pressure. To identify the geoecological response of soils in areas where primary diamond and gold dep...

Introduction. This study addresses the assessment of mining-related impacts on water resources in high-mountain river basins, where stream systems are highly sensitive to drainage inflows, disturbed slopes, waste rock dumps, and seasonal runoff variability. The research focuses on a small high-mountain catchment affect...

The influence of anthropogenic factors can lead to disruption of natural flows and redistribution of chemical elements in the environment components. Potentially toxic elements (PTE) enter the environment mainly due to mining activities. And anthropogenic processes leading to environmental pollution run faster than nat...
