TL;DR
It is suggested that surgical history is associated with treatment selection beyond measured markers of disease severity and a CT-guided, risk-stratified approach may provide a more consistent and reproducible basis for decision-making and reduce unnecessary surgery without compromising clinical or patient-reported outcomes.
The inverse relationship between operative duration and time to presentation suggests that increased surgical burden may contribute to an earlier onset of clinically significant obstruction.

BACKGROUND
The widespread implementation of standardised protocols, specifically nasogastric tube (NGT) decompression and gastrografin-based small bowel follow-through (SBFT), has enhanced clinical outcomes in adhesive small bowel obstruction (SBO). Nonetheless, a clinical challenge arises when a subset of patients dem...

Endovideosurgery for acute adhesive small bowel obstruction may be associated with a high risk of conversion and iatrogenic bowel injury (up to 26.9 %). However, reliable criteria for selecting patients for laparoscopic access have not yet been established, which necessitates the search for valid predictors of interven...
