Non-Invasive Vital Sign Monitoring

Abstract

Smart textiles integrated with advanced biosignal processing technologies are transforming healthcare by enabling continuous, real-time, and non-invasive monitoring through wearable systems. These wearable platforms continuously acquire and analyze physiological signals such as ECG, EMG, EEG, respiration, body temperature, and blood oxygen saturation. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Edge AI, and machine learning supports on-device signal processing, anomaly detection, predictive diagnostics, and personalized healthcare while reducing latency and energy consumption. This chapter reviews biosignal acquisition, signal conditioning, feature extraction, intelligent processing algorithms, and system integration in smart textile platforms. It also highlights flexible sensing materials, wearable communication technologies, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and emerging trends such as TinyML, federated learning, digital twins, and self-powered smart textiles for next-generation digital healthcare
