Abstract

The article presents calculations of the estimated safety factor F and the overdesign factor, ODF, for the front embankment body of the Lake Druzno reservoir in Nowe Dolno. The rehabilitation of low flood-protection levees in the Elbląg Żuławy region was almost exclusively performed using various local organic soils obtained from riverbeds or borrow ditches. Using soils with drastically different properties precludes homogenizing shear strength parameters within any embankment cross-section. This feature prevents calculating the stability factor (F) using assumed physical and strength parameters with standard analytical methods or numerical software. In situ shear strength testing was conducted on the potential slip surface of the embankment in the village of Nowe Dolno, located within the Lake Druzno basin in the Elbląg Żuławy region, specifically on Polder No. 76. The stability factor (F) was estimated by adapting the Fellenius method to incorporate hydrodynamic forces. The calculated values of F = 1.76 and ODF = 1.18 indicate adequate embankment stability.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
