Abstract

The green bond markets have gained and gained in significance as innovative financial instruments to mobilize funds to support sustainable development objectives. It is a qualitative secondary research that examines literature, policy frameworks and sustainability reports to understand the role of green bonds in the areas of renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, climate adaptation and financial innovation. The results suggest that although green bonds have the potential to speed up sustainable economic transition, there is a need for regulatory frameworks, institutional capacity, transparency mechanisms, and investor confidence.
