Abstract

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have gained significant attention due to their wide range of applications, including environmental monitoring, healthcare, industrial automation, and military operations. The primary challenge in WSNs is to ensure reliable data transmission while maintaining energy efficiency and network longevity. Multi-path data transmission has emerged as a promising technique to enhance the reliability of WSNs by mitigating data loss, reducing congestion, and improving fault tolerance. This paper presents a comprehensive study on multi-path data transmission mechanisms in WSNs, analyzing their impact on network performance, energy consumption, and data reliability. We explore various multi-path routing protocols, including Disjoint Path Routing, Braided Path Routing, and Hybrid Approaches, and assess their effectiveness in different network scenarios. Additionally, we discuss the challenges associated with multi-path data transmission, such as path redundancy, interference, and increased computational overhead. Through extensive simulations and comparative analysis, we demonstrate that multi-path data transmission significantly enhances network reliability while ensuring optimal resource utilization. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for designing robust and efficient WSNs, thereby contributing to advancements in the field of wireless communication.

Enhancing Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks through Genetic Algorithm-Based Routing Approaches

Modern technological systems rely heavily on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), which support many kinds of applications, including but not limited to: (1) environmental monitoring (2) medical monitoring and (3) smart city/infrastructure development. One major problem with extending the overall life of the network is the limited power source of the sensor nodes; therefore, energy-efficient communication has become one of the primary research areas. The direction of this work is a GA-based routing mechanism developed to minimize energy usage within WSNs. The proposed methodology employs evolutionary operators (e.g., selection, crossover, and mutation) that will adaptively develop low-energy routing paths and provide for an even distribution of traffic across all nodes. Also, node clustering, dynamic data aggregation, and multi-objective optimization are all methods used to improve network energy efficiency while not compromising the reliability of the data or the stability of the network. The simulations performed show that the proposed GA-based routing protocol offers improved power consumption, packet delivery rate and overall longevity of the network when compared to traditional methodologies such as LEACH or other energy aware GA methods. Additionally, the implementation analysis indicates a very high level of adaptability to node movement and variable traffic patterns, suggesting that it is robust and scalable. Thus, this research will help promote the development of energy-efficient wireless sensor networks (WSNs) as well as lay a solid foundation for future intelligent routing and effective resource management within future WSNs.

The effects of mobile sensors on throughput and delay for ZigBee-Based WSN Architectures

The WSN architecture has a significant impact on their performance; the most popular configurations are star, tree, mesh, and cluster. With an emphasis on throughput and delay, this study carries out a comparative analysis these four ZigBee-based WSN architectures. According to our results, mesh networks are best suited for large and dynamic networks because of their multiple routing paths, which also allow them to excel in throughput and reliability. In contrast, while tree architecture is more effective at aggregating data, proved to have higher delays as the network size increases. Meanwhile, star architecture are more energy-efficient but have limitations in terms of scalability and data traffic handling because they depend on a single central node. After switching all the sensors from fixed to mobile operation in a second set of simulations, all four WSN architecture were evaluated using the same primary performance criteria, namely throughput and delay. This exercise shows how sensor mobility modifies throughput and delay for the various WSN topologies. Lastly, the cluster architecture hasn’t received much attention previously. So, it will be discussed in this paper from throughput and delay point of view.

The improved differentiated data transmission scheme in wireless sensor networks

Wireless sensor networks are widely used in environmental monitoring, military reconnaissance, industrial control and other fields, but their communication links generally have problems such as packet loss, interference and node failure, which are difficult to meet the requirements of accurate and efficient data transmission at the same time. In view of this contradiction, this study proposes an improved differentiated data transmission scheme MR-RDCM based on robust Chinese remainder theorem, and applies it to wireless sensor network scenarios. The scheme differentiates the data according to value, encodes the important data as the main value in the remainder system, and embeds other data into the same transmission unit. In this paper, the data embedding and reconstruction process for wireless sensor network is designed, the correctness and characteristics of the algorithm are analyzed, and the experimental implementation is carried out according to the actual environment, and compared with the existing methods. The experimental results show that the new method can not only maintain the complete and accurate transmission of important data, but also significantly reduce the transmission delay and achieve near optimal bandwidth efficiency. It provides a differentiated transmission scheme with both reliability and efficiency for resource constrained wireless sensor networks.
