Abstract

Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF mMIMO) requires effective power control, but centralized processing relies on global instantaneous channel state information (CSI) and creates heavy fronthaul load. This letter focuses on low-overhead distributed power control under limited fronthaul capacity. We propose an information bottleneck (IB)-based policy that exchanges compact latent messages instead of raw local observations, and we train it using cluster-based federated learning to keep raw CSI local. The IB penalty provides an explicit information-rate proxy for online coordination, while robustness under imperfect CSI and data locality are evaluated as supporting effects rather than formal guarantees. Simulations show that the proposed method approaches a centralized benchmark with much lower effective overhead and stable behavior under channel estimation errors.

Dynamic Uplink Power Control for Cell-Free Massive MIMO

The proposed framework does not optimize only computational speed, but also clarifies the trade-off among execution time, SINR, spectral efficiency, and fairness under dynamic uplink CF-mMIMO conditions, indicating that this architecture serves as an adaptable platform to evaluate dynamic uplink power distribution across CF-mMIMO networks.

Fluid-Antenna-Assisted Distributed Joint Decoding for Cell-Free Massive MIMO Unsourced Random Access

Unsourced random access (URA) supports massive sporadic connectivity but remains limited by multiuser interference, distributed channel uncertainty, and local fading. This paper proposes a fluid-antenna-assisted distributed joint decoder for cell-free massive MIMO URA. Single-radio-frequencychain access points sequentially sound correlated ports; the central processor then performs correlation-aware expectationmaximization approximate message passing, selects one common payload port per access point, and combines MIMO iterative Gaussian approximation with full-packet channel re-estimation and successive interference cancellation. Fixed-port ablations confirm the complementary benefits of distributed reception, reestimation, and iterative cancellation, while fluid-antenna simulations show improved average and lower-tail received power over fixed-port reception. The framework provides a feasible integration of fluid antennas and cell-free URA and motivates end-to-end evaluation under pilot collisions and switching overhead.

Joint Access and Fronthaul Resource Allocation for Cell-Free Massive MIMO with Wireless Fronthaul

A joint access and fronthaul resource allocation algorithm is proposed that maximizes the minimum user equipment (UE) spectral efficiency while satisfying fronthaul load constraints and shows that severe fronthaul limitations not only reduce UE rates but also introduce spatial performance disparities depending on the cloud location.

Generalized Partial Full-Pilot Zero-Forcing Combining for Distributed Massive MIMO

Efficient uplink processing in distributed massive multiple-input multiple-output (D-mMIMO) systems requires effective local combining to significantly mitigate inter-user interference. Recent zero-forcing (ZF) based combining schemes, such as partial full-pilot ZF (PFZF) and protected weak PFZF (PWPFZF), rely on heuristic threshold-based user grouping that may lead to inefficient utilization of spatial degrees of freedom across access points. To address this limitation, we propose an adaptive pilot-aware local combining scheme, generalized PFZF (G-PFZF), that dynamically allocates spatial degrees of freedom based on local channel conditions and replaces heuristic grouping with a decentralized pilot-level optimization framework. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed G-PFZF scheme achieves significantly higher sum spectral efficiency compared to PFZF and PWPFZF.

Green Cell-Free Massive MIMO for ISAC: Joint Cloud, Fronthaul and Radio Resource Allocation

A cross-layer end-to-end (E2E) resource orchestration framework for green CF-mMIMO ISAC systems with distributed multi-target detection is developed and a fundamental implementation trade-off is revealed: FIS provides lower detector-processing complexity and higher detection performance, whereas PIS substantially reduces fronthaul requirements.
