Abstract

We analyze Higgs production at the LHC with a jet veto at central rapidities and present the first next-to-leading logarithmic resummation of non-global logarithms for this process. The resummation combines one-loop hard and soft matching functions with two-loop anomalous dimensions in the large-$N_c$ limit. To perform the resummation we numerically solve renormalization group equations via the parton-shower framework MARZILI. After matching to fixed order, we perform a detailed study of different sources of uncertainties. We find that the hard matching corrections dominate by far and are substantially larger than in Drell-Yan production. Together with earlier results for Drell-Yan, these are the first resummations of subleading non-global logarithms in hadron-collider cross sections, and they provide a benchmark for logarithmically accurate parton showers.

Third-Order Logarithmic Resummation for Jet-Vetoed Higgs Production

Jet vetoes are central to precision measurements of Higgs-boson properties at the Large Hadron Collider, where they are used to suppress backgrounds containing hard QCD radiation. We present the first prediction for the Higgs jet-vetoed cross section at the third logarithmic order in QCD, consistently combining the nex...

High-energy logarithms and precision at the LHC

We address the breakdown of fixed-order perturbation theory due to logarithms in $s/p_t^2$ for processes involving two jets or more at the energies currently explored at the LHC. The problem manifests itself in various ways: an obvious breakdown of the perturbative series for some kinematic distributions, highly asymme...

Three-loop rapidity anomalous dimension for jet-veto cross sections

We present the first calculation of the third-order corrections to the rapidity anomalous dimension for jet-veto cross sections. This is a crucial ingredient for the resummation of these scattering observables in key processes such as colour-singlet and heavy-quark-pair production at hadron colliders. More precisely, o...

NNLL resummation for the production of four top quarks

Four-top production is one of the rarest processes of the Standard Model observable at the Large Hadron Collider, offering sensitivity to the top Yukawa coupling, Higgs width, and beyond-Standard-Model physics. We present precise predictions for the invariant-mass distribution and total cross section using threshold re...

Complete electroweak corrections to diphoton production via gluon fusion at the LHC

We present a complete calculation of the next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections to the loop-induced gluon-fusion process $gg\to\gamma\gamma$ at the LHC, including the full third-generation quark and the Higgs boson contributions for the first time. To efficiently evaluate the large number of multi-scale tw...

The Singular Structure of Rapidity Distributions for Color-Singlet Production at N3LO

We determine the universal singular structure of rapidity distributions for color-singlet production in hadron collisions through next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N3LO) in QCD. Our result captures the full singular contributions as either partonic momentum fraction approaches one, including the delta-function ter...
