HUBUNGAN ANTARA KEPERCAYAAN DIRI DENGAN KETERAMPILAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PADA SISWA KELAS XI SMA DARUL FALAH

Abstract

ABSTRACT Self-confidence is one of the psychological aspects that can influence students’ ability to engage in interpersonal communication in the school environment. Low self-confidence may cause students to experience difficulties in expressing opinions, interacting with peers, and openly conveying their feelings. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills among eleventh-grade students at SMA Darul Falah Pagutan. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 102 eleventh-grade students, with 51 students selected as the research sample. Data were collected using self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills questionnaires, each consisting of four response alternatives. The data were analyzed using inferential statistics through the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (r calculated) was 0.638, while the r table value at the 5% significance level was 0.276. Since the calculated r value of 0.638 was greater than the r table value of 0.276, it can be concluded that there was a significant relationship between self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills among eleventh-grade students at SMA Darul Falah Pagutan. The relationship was positive, indicating that higher levels of students’ self-confidence were associated with higher levels of interpersonal communication skills, and conversely, lower self-confidence was associated with lower interpersonal communication skills. These findings emphasize the importance of developing students’ self-confidence as one of the factors that can support their interpersonal communication skills in the school environment. ABSTRAK Kepercayaan diri merupakan salah satu aspek psikologis yang dapat memengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan komunikasi interpersonal di lingkungan sekolah. Rendahnya kepercayaan diri dapat menyebabkan siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mengemukakan pendapat, berinteraksi dengan teman sebaya, dan menyampaikan perasaan secara terbuka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kepercayaan diri dengan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal pada siswa kelas XI SMA Darul Falah Pagutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas 102 siswa kelas XI, dengan sampel sebanyak 51 siswa yang ditentukan sebagai subjek penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket kepercayaan diri dan angket keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal yang masing-masing menggunakan empat alternatif jawaban. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik inferensial melalui uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai koefisien korelasi (r hitung) sebesar 0,638, sedangkan nilai r tabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% sebesar 0,276. Karena r hitung 0,638 > r tabel 0,276, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dengan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas XI SMA Darul Falah Pagutan. Hubungan tersebut bersifat positif, yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kepercayaan diri siswa, semakin tinggi pula keterampilan komunikasi interpersonalnya, dan sebaliknya. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan kepercayaan diri sebagai salah satu aspek yang dapat mendukung keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal siswa di lingkungan sekolah.
