Abstract

The goal of this note is to investigate quantitative stability properties of the critical Sobolev inequality in ${\sf CD}(N-1,N)$ metric measure spaces. Assuming that the optimal constant for the inequality is almost the same as the one of the round sphere, we show that the cumulative distribution of any almost extremal function is close, in Wasserstein distance, to the one of an Aubin-Talenti bubble on the round sphere. We obtain similar results for the log Sobolev inequality and the spectral gap under various curvature and dimension assumptions. In all cases we obtain a quantitative stability with sharp exponent.

Sharp Gradient Stability for the Sobolev Trace Inequality

Let \(n\ge3\) and \(1<p<n\). We prove a quantitative stability estimate for the critical Sobolev trace inequality on the upper half-space. More precisely, the Sobolev trace deficit controls the \(\max\{2,p\}\)-th power of the gradient distance to the manifold of trace bubbles. A central part of the proof is the spectral nondegeneracy of the trace bubbles: the first two eigenspaces of the linearized weighted Steklov problem are exactly the amplitude, dilation, and tangential translation modes.

An isoperimetric inequality for Neumann eigenvalues with radial log-concave measures

We prove a sharp isoperimetric inequality for the harmonic mean of the first $n$ nonzero Neumann eigenvalues of the Witten-Laplacian on origin-symmetric Lipschitz domains in space forms, endowed with radial log-concave measures. The main novelty is that we establish the sharp harmonic mean inequality under general radial log-concave measures, without assuming the weight function to be non-increasing. This extends previous results that were restricted to specific or more restrictive weighted settings. The proof relies on a refined analysis of the first eigenfunction on geodesic balls, a monotonicity property derived from a convexity condition on the radial weight, and a matrix trace inequality.

A trace theorem for spherical kinetic Sobolev spaces on $\rho$-convex domains

Trace theorems are an indispensable tool for the analysis of kinetic equations. They have been established in wide generality by Cessenat and co-workers for radiative transfer and related applications. A variety of trace estimates have been established for the kinetic Fokker-Planck and Kolmogorov equation, typically requiring smoothness of the underlying domain; see the recent survey by Niebel \&Valentini. In this work, we prove a new trace estimate for kinetic Sobolev spaces over the sphere for $\rho$-convex domains which, in general, may have a non-smooth boundary. Similar to the work of Cessenat, we use characteristics to obtain trace estimates in weighted trace spaces with explicit constants. For completeness, we also present a density result for the corresponding function spaces on Lipschitz domains.

Optimal stability of regularized spectral differentiation in Sobolev spaces

We study the problem of stable spectral differentiation of functions in Sobolev spaces from noisy data. We introduce a class of admissible Fourier multipliers under simple and directly verifiable conditions and show that the corresponding regularized differentiation operators achieve minimax optimal stability rates. The results extend the previous $L^2$ based results to Sobolev spaces $H^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, $1<p<\infty$. The analysis relies on multiplier estimates and applies to a wide class of multipliers, including Gaussian, spectral cutoff, and Tikhonov-type regularizations. Numerical examples demonstrate the behavior of several admissible spectral multipliers.

Generalization for Poincar\'e--Sobolev inequalities with local weights

It is well known the local integral inequality which is called Poincar\'e--Sobolev inequality on each domain cube (or ball). After that many authors investigated the generalization for this inequality with Muckenhoupt-type weights or global weights which are independent of the domain cube. In this paper, we investigated similar weighted generalization for this inequality with the local weights which are depending on the domain cube without assuming the Muckenhoupt condition. Moreover, we considered the weighted generalization for the homogeneous and inhomogeneous-type Sobolev embedding theorems as some applications.

Existence of Yamabe stability optimizers

We prove the existence of stability optimizers for the Yamabe inequality on closed Riemannian manifolds of dimension at least three with positive Yamabe invariant that satisfy two threshold conditions. Remarkably, the compactness threshold we uncover is different from the special case of the round sphere treated previously by the second author. More precisely, it is given by sequences blowing up in one instead of two bubbles, reflecting the compactness of Yamabe minimizers in the non-spherical case. Using the classical asymptotic analysis of Aubin--Schoen test functions, we prove that the stability constant is strictly below the one-bubble threshold in dimension at least six and when the manifold is not locally conformally flat. In the complementary case, namely in dimensions three through five or when the manifold is locally conformally flat, we find a new positive-mass-type condition which is sufficient for the strict inequality.
