Changes in the clinical and biochemical profile in dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy at different stages of hemodynamic changes while taking L-carnitine
Abstract
The purpose of the presented study is to establish changes in the clinical and biochemical blood profile in dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy at different stages of hemodynamic changes during its complex drug correction with the inclusion of the drug "L-carnitine". The development of dilated cardiomyopathy inevitably leads to impaired liver and kidney function. At the same time, due to increased intoxication, there is a feedback loop – the development of liver and kidney damage worsens the course of DCM and enhances its clinical symptoms. This process can be influenced by the use of pathogenetically based complex drug therapy based on the use of substances that promote the normalization of metabolic processes and possess antioxidant properties. One of them is L-carnitine. In addition to the above properties, it is directly involved in the energy metabolism of the heart muscle. In order to determine its effect on the clinical and biochemical profile of dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy, 40 dogs of large and giant breeds were selected, which were divided into eight groups according to the stage of hemodynamic changes (four control and four experimental). In addition to the standard treatment regimen that animals from the control groups received, the animals of the experimental groups were prescribed "L-carnitine" at a dose of 30.0 mg. To establish the dynamics of the main clinical and biochemical parameters of blood during the experiment, it was studied on the first, 30th and 60th days of its staging. According to the results of the clinical and morphological analysis of blood at all stages of the experiment, no deviations from the norm were detected in all animals. This indicates that they do not have concomitant inflammatory diseases and pathologies of the blood coagulation system. The most significant changes in the studied animals were recorded during a biochemical study of blood serum for such indicators as alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and urea. Based on their dynamics during the experiment, the use of the drug "L-carnitine" helps restore the functional state of the liver. The revealed dynamics of normalization of AST activity in animals treated with this drug may indirectly indicate a decrease in the degree of damage to the heart muscle. At the same time, a change in the concentration of urea in the blood serum of animals treated with L-carnitine during the experiment indicates its effective effect on the normalization of liver function and on the reduction of prerenal azotemia. This is explained by an increase in renal perfusion and restoration of hemodynamics as a result of compensation for dilated cardiomyopathy under the influence of the drug "L-carnitine".
