Abstract
Abstract Nekemias grossedentata (syn. Ampelopsis grossedentata, vine tea) is an economically important medicinal plant in China, yet the diversity of foliar fungal pathogens remains poorly understood. In this study, three pathogenic fungi were isolated from symptomatic N. grossedentata leaves collected in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, China. Their taxonomic status was determined using an integrative approach combining morphological characterisation, multi-locus phylogenetic analysis, coalescent species delimitation and SNP-based PCA (SNPs extracted from concatenated multi-locus sequences). The pathogenicity was confirmed by fulfilling Koch’s postulates. Three novel species are formally described herein: Coniella ampelopsidis, Colletotrichum enshiense and Pestalotiopsis ampelopsidis. All analyses consistently resolved the three species as independent taxa with highly-supported evolutionary lineages, distinct genetic clustering and significant nucleotide divergence. This study also enriches the inventory of foliar fungal pathogens infecting Nekemias grossedentata and provides a basis for integrated disease management.
Abstract Panax notoginseng is a famous medicinal plant in China. Under forest-based ecological cultivation, its roots harbor a diverse assemblage of endophytic fungi with unique community structures. Some of these fungi can enhance host resistance to diseases and environmental stresses, promote plant growth, and may in...
Abstract Pseudoplagiostoma fungi are globally widespread, encompassing plant-pathogenic, saprophytic, and endophytic fungal species associated with diverse plant hosts. Four Pseudoplagiostoma isolates were recovered from diseased leaves of Artocarpus hainanensis, Cinnamomum sp., Mallotus hookerianus, and Trachelospermu...

Abstract Chaetosphaeriaceae is a group of micro-ascomycetes widely distributed in diverse ecosystems worldwide. Group members are commonly found on decaying wood, leaf litter and in moist soil. However, their diversity in soil habitats, especially in understudied bamboo forest ecosystems, remains poorly characterised....
Abstract Ascomycete diversity in Yunnan Province, China, remains substantially underexplored. Many species likely remain undetected. This study aimed to discover the ascomycete diversity in Yunnan, China, depending on three fungal collections obtained from Baoshan and Kunming city regions. Based on morphological charac...

Fusarium species within the Fusarium incarnatum–equiseti species complex (FIESC) comprise a diverse group of fungi with pathogenic, endophytic, and saprobic lifestyles. During a survey of fungal diversity associated with bamboo in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China, a Fusarium species was isolated from dead bamboo c...

The beet armyworm,
Spodoptera exigua
(Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), has expanded its geographic occurrence in Korea and causes substantial damage to a wide range of crops. Accurate documentation and identification of its associated parasitoids are important for understanding parasitoid diversity and suppo...
