Abstract

In this article, we study the weighted homogeneous Sobolev--Morrey spaces on domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with higher co-dimensional boundaries. Precisely, we systematically establish a real-variable theory of these spaces, including completeness, embedding theorems, Riesz potential characterizations, continuity, trace and extension theorems, and complex interpolation. Applying the boundedness of the trace and the extension operators, we obtain sharp weighted a priori estimates for solutions to the Dirichlet problem of divergence-form degenerate second-order elliptic equations on such domains in weighted Lebesgue spaces. The absence of a boundary manifold structure of these domains poses some essential difficulties, which are overcome by using some tools, such as the intrinsic properties of distance weights and the geometric structure of domains, different from those available in Lipschitz domains.

Weak-type characterizations of Sobolev and bounded variation spaces on metric measure spaces

Given a complete doubling metric measure space $(X,\rho,\mu)$ supporting a Poincar\'e inequality, we prove weak-type characterizations of the Sobolev space $\dot{W}^{1,p}(\mu)$ and the space of functions of bounded variation, achieving a full analogy in general Poincar\'e spaces with the Euclidean results of Brezis et al. [Anal. PDE 17 (2024), 943-979]. The main novelty is that the finiteness of a weak-type norm, which only refers to differences or mean oscillations of $f$ without assuming any smoothness a priori, already guarantees the membership of $f$ in the relevant Sobolev or BV space. This distinguishes our contribution from the recent work of F. Dai et al. [Adv. Math. 502 (2026), Paper No. 111153], where the related norm-equivalence was obtained under the a priori Lipschitz assumption on $f$. A key intermediate step in our approach is a new localized Bourgain-Brezis-Mironescu type characterization. More precisely, we prove that, if $p\in(1,\infty)$ and $\gamma\in\mathbb R\setminus\{0\}$, then, for any $f\in L^1_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mu)$, \begin{equation*}\tag{$*$} \|f\|_{\dot W^{1,p}(\mu)} \sim \|\rho^{-1}\phi^{-\gamma}F\|_{L^{p,\infty}(\phi^{\gamma p}V^{-1})}, \qquad F\in\{\Delta f,m_f\},\quad \phi\in\{\rho,V\}, \end{equation*} where the homogeneous Sobolev space $\dot{W}^{1,p}(\mu)$ is defined by the minimal $p$-weak upper gradient and, for any $x,y\in X$, we denote $V(x,y):=\mu(B(x,\rho(x,y)))$ and $\Delta f(x,y):=|f(x) - f(y)|$, and $m_f(x,y)$ is the mean oscillation of $f$ on the ball $B(x,\rho(x,y))$. For $p=1$, the equivalence $(*)$ holds after replacing $\|f\|_{\dot W^{1,1}(\mu)}$ by a bounded variation norm and restricting the parameters to the optimal ranges $\gamma\in(-\infty,-1)\cup(0,\infty)$ for $\phi=\rho$ or $\gamma\in (-\infty,-\frac1d)\cup(0,\infty)$ for $\phi=V$, where $d\in(0,\infty)$ is the lower dimension of $X$.

Well-posedness for the mean curvature flow on the half-space and on bounded domains

We study graphical mean curvature flow in arbitrary codimension over the half-space and over smooth bounded domains, subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. At the scaling-critical Lipschitz regularity, we prove local well-posedness for initial graphs that can be approximated in $W^{1,\infty}$ by smooth profiles compatible with the boundary condition. Within this class, if the initial Lipschitz seminorm is sufficiently small, the corresponding solution is global; on a bounded domain, it also converges exponentially to the flat graph. Positive-time regularization is quantified by time-weighted H\"older estimates whose weighted quantities remain bounded as $t\downarrow0$. The main analytic ingredient is a boundary Schauder theory for variable-coefficient parabolic systems. On the half-space, it combines coefficient freezing with parity extensions and boundary identities intrinsic to the graphical system. On curved domains, localization and boundary flattening lead to anisotropic estimates, from which normal derivatives are recovered recursively.

Hölder regularity for double divergence form elliptic equations with Morrey data

We establish the regularity properties of adjoint solutions to elliptic equations in double divergence form with variable coefficients and rough forcing terms. More precisely, we consider Dirichlet problems associated with the formal adjoint of second-order elliptic operators in non-divergence form, assuming that the coefficient matrix is uniformly elliptic and Hölder continuous, and that the forcing term belongs to a Morrey space L^{1,\lambda}(\Omega) .The existence and uniqueness of adjoint solutions are established via a duality argument. Under the additional assumption that the coefficients are Hölder continuous, we prove that solutions are locally Hölder continuous. Our results parallel classical regularity theory to adjoint problems in double divergence form with non-constant coefficients and merely integrable data, highlighting the natural role of Morrey spaces in this framework.

Semilinear overdetermined problems, a divergence formula, and geometric inequalities

Considering an $n$-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with a boundary that satisfies a Serrin-type problem, we prove sharp upper and lower bounds for the area of such a boundary. Then, we present the main result of this paper: a divergence formula for a special vector field on a given Riemannian manifold. This divergence formula is closely related to sub-static manifolds and related metrics, e.g., $V$-static, static, and electrostatic manifolds. We show Minkowski-type inequalities for $V$-sub-static manifolds under different Neumann boundary conditions. Moreover, we prove an area-charge inequality for compact (and noncompact) electrostatic manifolds. The main application of the divergence formula presented in this work generalizes the classical result of Boucher--Gibbons--Horowitz: we prove that an asymptotically hyperbolic space of a static spacetime satisfying the null convergence condition must be the hyperbolic space.

A trace theorem for spherical kinetic Sobolev spaces on $\rho$-convex domains

Trace theorems are an indispensable tool for the analysis of kinetic equations. They have been established in wide generality by Cessenat and co-workers for radiative transfer and related applications. A variety of trace estimates have been established for the kinetic Fokker-Planck and Kolmogorov equation, typically requiring smoothness of the underlying domain; see the recent survey by Niebel \&Valentini. In this work, we prove a new trace estimate for kinetic Sobolev spaces over the sphere for $\rho$-convex domains which, in general, may have a non-smooth boundary. Similar to the work of Cessenat, we use characteristics to obtain trace estimates in weighted trace spaces with explicit constants. For completeness, we also present a density result for the corresponding function spaces on Lipschitz domains.
