TL;DR

An Internet of Things (IoT)-based temperature monitoring system for display refrigerators, capable of performing real-time monitoring and providing alerts during abnormal conditions, is designed and implemented.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The temperature monitoring of the display refrigerator at the Matahari Department Store Canteen, Metropolitan Mall Bekasi, is currently performed manually. As a result, continuous monitoring of temperature fluctuations and the refrigerator door's condition is not possible, potentially leading to a degradation in product quality. This research aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based temperature monitoring system for display refrigerators, capable of performing real-time monitoring and providing alerts during abnormal conditions. The development method utilized is the Prototyping model, comprising the stages of communication, quick plan, modeling quick design, construction of prototype, and deployment and delivery. The system was developed using an ESP32 microcontroller, a DS18B20 temperature sensor, a magnetic switch, a TFT LCD, and a buzzer, with Blynk and Telegram serving as the monitoring and notification media. System testing was conducted through Alpha Testing using the Black Box method to ensure that all hardware and software functions operated according to the design. The test results indicated that all system functions operated effectively, including real-time temperature readings, refrigerator door condition detection, information display on the TFT LCD and Blynk, as well as notification delivery via Telegram when abnormal conditions occurred. The system successfully issued alerts when the temperature fell outside the 2–8°C range and when the refrigerator door was left open beyond the specified time limit. Therefore, the developed monitoring system can enhance the effectiveness of display refrigerator temperature monitoring, accelerate the detection of abnormal conditions, and reduce reliance on manual temperature checks.

Requirements Don’t Live in Isolation: What We’re Exploring with Req-Space

Requirements in large systems rarely exist in isolation. Their meaning depends on the wider project context - other requirements, policies, decisions, tests, and implementation details. That becomes especially important when AI is used for review, because spotting a possible conflict or gap is only the beginning. ReqSpace explores how AI, visualisation, and connected project context can help reviewers understand those findings, trace the relationships behind them, and focus on the questions that…
