2026 · International Journal of Public Administration · Vol 5, pp. 23-41 · 0 citations

Abstract

This paper is aimed at examining innovative leadership style and its impact on democratic dividend delivery. Using a six-step thematic analysis of qualitative data, and leveraging on Transformational Leadership Theory, the research appraises the two-years- administration of Dr. Alex Otti as the executive governor of Abia state Nigeria [May, 2023-May, 2025]. Findings reveal that democratic dividend delivery is the core of Innovative leadership and it touches the HEARTS of the society. His administration’s commitment to citizen-centric governance has restored hope and dignity to the people, setting a model for good governance in the South East and indeed Nigeria at large. Nonetheless, there are still more room for improvement in the various sectors analyzed, we therefore recommend that the governor become more strategic in his approach, adding collaborative governance to his sleeve.  Again that every strata of government should engage in innovative leadership as a lifeline to bring Nigeria out of the quagmire caused by bad leadership
