Dorsolateral Prefrontal rTMS Symptom Cluster Response Trajectories for Depression
Abstract
Key Points Question Are there distinct longitudinal symptom-cluster response trajectories among patients undergoing repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment-resistant depression, and what baseline factors are associated with trajectory membership? Findings In this cohort study that included 388 adults, group-based multitrajectory modeling identified 4 response trajectories; final remission ranged from 65.22% in the optimal response group to 0% in the minimal response group, a significant difference. Younger age, benzodiazepine use, lower baseline anxiety, and higher baseline mood symptoms were significantly associated with minimal response. Meaning These findings suggest that distinct longitudinal symptom-cluster response patterns may help individualize treatment for patients with treatment-resistant depression.
