ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND BLOCKCHAIN INTEGRATION FOR INTELLIGENT IOT SECURITY
Abstract
The rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized modern digital ecosystems by enabling seamless communication among interconnected devices across healthcare, smart cities, industrial automation, transportation, and agriculture. However, the growing number of connected devices has significantly expanded the attack surface, making IoT networks increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats such as data breaches, malware attacks, unauthorized access, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, and privacy violations. Conventional security mechanisms often struggle to provide adequate protection due to the resource-constrained nature of IoT devices and the dynamic complexity of distributed environments. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution to address these security challenges by combining intelligent threat detection with decentralized trust management. Artificial Intelligence facilitates real-time anomaly detection, predictive analytics, intrusion detection, malware classification, and adaptive security through advanced machine learning and deep learning algorithms. Simultaneously, Blockchain ensures secure data storage, decentralized authentication, immutable transaction records, transparent access control, and tamper-resistant communication among IoT devices. The synergy between AI and Blockchain enhances the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and resilience of IoT ecosystems while minimizing reliance on centralized authorities. This study explores the conceptual framework, architecture, applications, benefits, and implementation challenges associated with AI-Blockchain integration for intelligent IoT security. It also highlights critical issues including computational overhead, scalability, energy consumption, interoperability, latency, and privacy preservation that influence practical deployment. Furthermore, the study discusses emerging technologies such as federated learning, edge computing, and lightweight blockchain protocols that can further strengthen intelligent IoT security frameworks. The findings suggest that integrating Artificial Intelligence with Blockchain establishes a robust, scalable, and autonomous security paradigm capable of protecting next-generation IoT infrastructures against sophisticated cyber threats while supporting secure, trustworthy, and intelligent digital transformation.
