A Socio-Technical Systems Perspective on Supply Chain Resilience by Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Digital Leadership for Sustainable Growth
Abstract
Considering the increasing role of global supply chains, which face increasing disruptions from pandemics, geopolitical conflicts, and market uncertainty, this highlights the need for resilience to sustain long-term growth. Supply chain resilience (SCR) enables organizations to anticipate, respond, and recover from disruptions while maintaining operational stability. This paper explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and digital leadership within the framework of Socio-Technical System (STS) Theory, emphasizing the joint optimization of technological and social subsystems. AI contributes to resilience by enhancing demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and real-time visibility, while predictive analytics supports proactive risk management. Meanwhile, digital leadership ensures successful adoption of digital transformation, fostering collaboration, innovation, and adaptability across supply chain networks. The study proposes that combining AI capabilities with strong digital leadership strengthens SCR and supports sustainable growth by balancing productivity, flexibility, and environmental responsibility. This integration provides a comprehensive approach for organizations to navigate dynamic environments and achieve competitive advantage in the era of digital supply chains.
