Abstract

In this paper, we develop the method of moving planes entirely in the weak formulation for the fractional $p$-Laplacian in the singular range $1<p\leq2$. We first establish a small region principle for antisymmetric functions and apply it to prove radial symmetry and monotonicity of nonnegative weak solutions of fractional $p$-Laplacian equations in a bounded domain. We also consider the nonlocal quasilinear Lane--Emden equation $(-\Delta)^s_pu=u^q$ in $\mathbb R^n$. In the Sobolev critical case, we establish radial symmetry, monotonicity, and precise asymptotic behavior at infinity for finite-energy weak solutions. Under a suitable decay condition, we also obtain radial symmetry for the full range $q>p-1$. Our results complete those of Chen-Li (Adv. Math., 2018: 735-758), where analogous results were obtained for $C^{1,1}$ solutions in the pointwise sense.

Comparison principles and symmetry for subquadratic fractional $p$-Laplacian equations

This paper establishes a new comparison principle framework for the subquadratic fractional $p$-Laplacian, i.e.~$1<p<2$ under minimal regularity assumptions, that has remained a significant challenging issue due to the singularity of the operator. Our results provide the essential analytical tools required for the movi...

Unique continuation, nonexistence and bubbling for the critical $p$-Laplace equation in the plane

For $1<p<2$ we prove weak and strong unique continuation properties for the solutions to $\Delta_pu+f(u)=0$ in a planar domain, with $f$ continuous and such that $|f(s)|\leq C|s|^{p-1}$: a solution vanishing on an open set vanishes identically, and so does a solution vanishing to infinite order at a single point. We ca...

An improved strong comparison principle for singular $p$-Laplace equations, with applications

We consider positive weak solutions of $-\Delta_p u=f(u)$, with $f$ positive and locally Lipschitz continuous. In the singular case $1<p<2$, the Harnack-type inequalities, the strong maximum principle for the linearized operator, the description of the critical set and the strong comparison principle established by Dam...

Existence of three solutions for parametric $p$-Laplacian equations in $\mathbb{R}^N$

In this paper we deal with a nonlinear elliptic problem in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^N$ involving the $p$-Laplacian operator with $p>N$. Under suitable assumptions on the potential term and on the nonlinearity, we establish the existence of at least three distinct weak solutions. Our approach is variational and relie...

Harnack Inequality for Parabolic Fractional $p$-Laplace Equations

We establish an intrinsic Harnack inequality with an optimal tail term for weak solutions of parabolic fractional $p$-Laplace equations with $p>2$ and $s\in(0,1)$ whose kernels are symmetric, measurable, and comparable to $|x-y|^{-n-sp}$. It constitutes the nonlocal analogue of the intrinsic Harnack inequality of DiBen...

Gradient estimates for the fractional $p$-Laplacian in the superquadratic regime

We establish gradient potential estimates for solutions obtained as limits of approximations (SOLA) to the fractional $p$-Laplace equation with finite signed Radon measure data. Under the assumptions $n\ge2$, $p>2$, $0p-1$, every SOLA belongs to $W^{1,p-1}_{\mathrm{loc}}$, and its weak gradient satisfies a Wolff potent...
