Abstract

To achieve high-quality and efficient applications of CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced polymer) in advanced aerospace, aeronautical, and maritime equipment, this work focuses on the development of an integrated framework for the modeling, analysis, and optimization of composites’ mechanical behavior. This framework aims to serve the entire process of composite design and manufacturing, reduce costs resulting from trial-and-error, and enhance the overall performance and manufacturing quality of new equipment. The framework is introduced through the selection of typical behaviors in composite material applications. First, a theoretical analysis of the generation and forms of these behaviors is conducted, and methods for collecting fundamental data are introduced. To achieve model training based on data, application independent of data, and optimization of the design process while facilitating the promotion and application of the framework, different models are compared and developed. Additionally, methods are introduced for designers to conveniently establish and apply models during structural design, with an example validation using curing deformation in non-symmetric parts. Finally, considering the entire process of composite material part design and optimization, the computational and analytical models are extended, and they are integrated with optimization. This integration enables the enhancement of part performance and subsequent manufacturing precision during the basic and detailed design stages of structural design. The proposed method's convenience and accuracy are demonstrated through a concrete optimization example. The extension of optimization algorithms is similar to the data-independent analysis and computational models, making them easily accessible for designers to establish an integrated framework.
