Abstract

The frame is a critical structural component of a rotak vacuum cleaning machine because it supports the main mechanical components and transfers operational loads to the supports. This study aims to design and evaluate the structural strength of the machine frame using SolidWorks 2022 and the Finite Element Method (FEM). The frame was modeled as a box-shaped structure with dimensions of 600 mm × 600 mm × 530 mm and fabricated conceptually from 30 × 30 × 2 mm galvanized angle steel. The component masses considered in the capstone design were a DC motor, fuel tank, two pulleys, rotak, shaft support, wire brush, and shaft, with a total mass of 6.28 kg, corresponding to a gravitational load of 61.631 N. For the SolidWorks static analysis, the applied load was verified and standardized at 308.99 N. Under this simulation condition, the maximum Von Mises stress was 5.281 MPa, compared with a material yield strength of approximately 203 MPa, and the minimum factor of safety was above 39. The simulated maximum displacement was 0.269 mm. Overall, the simulated frame remained below the material yield limit and demonstrated adequate structural performance under the analyzed static loading condition.
