THE EFFECT OF THE USE OF VIDEO-BASED LEARNING MEDIA ON STUDENT LEARNING MOTIVATION AND LEARNING DISCIPLINE IN SOCIAL SCIENCE SUBJECTS
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of video-based learning media on students’ motivation to learn and discipline in Social Science subjects. The development of educational technology encourages teachers to use more interactive learning media, making the learning process more effective and increasing student involvement. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study respondents amounted to 40 elementary school students who were selected as the research sample. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 30 items that assessed video-based learning media use, learning motivation, and learning discipline. The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, followed by validity, reliability, and regression analyses to test the research hypothesis. The descriptive results showed that the use of video-based learning media obtained an average score of 40.60 out of a maximum score of 50. The learning motivation variable obtained an average score of 43.20, while learning discipline obtained an average score of 43.48. These preliminary findings show that most students give a positive assessment of the use of video-based learning media and exhibit relatively high motivation and discipline in learning. This research is expected to serve as a basis for teachers to optimize the use of video media as a learning strategy to improve the quality of the Social Science learning process.
