Cría de Bocachico (Prochilodus reticulatus, Prochilodontidae) en condiciones de laboratorio
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to raise juvenile Bocachico (Prochilodus reticulatus) from the Catatumbo River under laboratory conditions, based on a high and low density of individuals/m3 and two inclusions of crude protein in the daily ration to monitor weight gain, feed conversion ratio, specific growth rate, and survival. 360 juveniles of 0.524 ± 0.33 g (initial live weight) were used. A sowing of 60 and 120 juveniles/m3 was implemented (Factor A) with a feeding of 25 % and 28 % crude protein (Factor B) to four treatments distributed in 16 250 L PVC tanks with filters and individual oxygenation system. Each tank or experimental unit consisted of 15 or 30 juveniles/tank depending on the implemented density. The fish were fed three times a day, calculating the ration at 5,5 % of the biomass. The experimental period was 60 days. Data were analyzed using ANOVA for an A*B after verifying the assumptions of normality and homogeneity. The protein level did not affect the zootechnical variables, nor the survival of juveniles of P. reticulatus. In the case of the CA, the variables evaluated presented significant differences according to the sowing density used. According to the results, the density of 60 juveniles/m3, with an inclusion of 25 % crude protein, allows for obtain greater productive performance in juveniles of this species under laboratory conditions, without affecting survival.
