Abstract
In-wheel motor drive technology represents a fundamental approach to distributed electric propulsion and plays a crucial role in advancing chassis architecture and power system innovation in new energy vehicles. To overcome engineering challenges such as limited hardware reliability, inadequate adaptability to operating conditions, increased unsprung mass, and constrained heat dissipation inherent in in-wheel motor drive systems, this study employs the TMS320F28379DZWTQR dualcore microcontroller as the central control unit. A modular design methodology is applied to the drive controller hardware system, accompanied by simulation validation of the vector control strategy. The hardware system features a modular architecture that integrates power management, power drive, signal acquisition, communication interfaces, and safety protection modules. Circuit design prioritizes electrical isolation, interference mitigation, and redundant protective measures. A closed-loop simulation model of the in-wheel permanent magnet synchronous motor is developed using MATLAB/Simulink, with simulation tests conducted under two representative operating scenarios: noload startup and sudden load application. The results demonstrate that the proposed hardware architecture and control strategy achieve rapid speed convergence with zero steady-state error, exhibiting superior dynamic response and robustness against load disturbances. These findings confirm the engineering viability of the proposed approach and provide a theoretical foundation for the hardware development and algorithm implementation of inwheel motor drive controllers.
The automotive industry starts the process of transformation and upgrading, and new energy vehicles gradually take an important position. There are two forms of electric drive technology, centralized and distributed. In-wheel motors belong to the distributed category. It integrates the drive motor into the wheel hub, e...
