Abstract
Controlling polymer stereochemistry is of significant importance because the tacticity of the polymer backbone directly determines its physical properties. Chiral binaphthyl (NP) based diboranes have proven effective in stereoselective epoxide homopolymerization, whereas spirobiindane (SD) derived analogs exhibit only limited stereoselectivity in cyclohexene oxide (CHO)/CO2 copolymerization. Given the greater intrinsic rigidity of the SD framework relative to NP, this trend is counterintuitive. This observation raises two key questions: can NP diboranes mediate CHO/CO2 copolymerization, and what governs the stereoselectivity in this process? Herein, we report a comprehensive density functional theory (DFT) study on a series of NP chiral organoboron catalysts for the stereoselective copolymerization of CHO with CO2. Owing to the rigid framework, NP1, NP0, and NPe are predicted to deliver excellent enantioselectivity, with calculated ΔΔGS-R values of 7.3, 3.7, and 4.4 kcal mol-1, respectively. Surprisingly, the more flexible NP3 and NP4 also exhibit high enantioselectivity, with calculated ΔΔGS-R values of 5.5 and 5.0 kcal mol-1, respectively. Further distortion interaction analysis (DIAS) reveals that CHO distortion is the primary origin of enantioselectivity, with the shorter diboron distances in the NP catalysts amplifying differences in CHO twisting.
Developing enzymatic strategies for diverse reaction manifolds is a major objective in modern biocatalysis. Here, we report the first biocatalytic asymmetric Johnson–Corey–Chaykovsky (JCC) cyclopropanation via DNA catalysis. Unlike conventional small-molecule catalysis, which largely favors trans-cyclopropane formati...

The development of advanced catalytic paradigms for the precise synthesis of all stereoisomers of chiral molecules has long been an important yet challenging pursuit. Organo/metal dual catalysis represents a powerful platform for stereodivergent construction of vicinal stereocenters. However, stereodivergent synthesi...

Axially chiral [12]cycloparaarylenes 1 and 2, consisting of three each of 1,1'-binaphthyl and biphenyl units, were synthesized. Their characteristics were distinct from those of [12]cycloparaphenylene and depended on whether the 2,2'-substituents on the binaphthyls were methoxy groups or a methylenedioxy bridge. 1 with...
P(V)-stereogenic compounds show diverse biological properties and remain as a focal point in medicinal chemistry and agrochemicals. Traditional approaches to access enantioenriched P(V)-stereogenic molecules largely depend on chromatographic resolution, chiral auxiliaries, and/or the use of optically active starting...

Enantiomerically enriched [2.2]paracyclophanes (PCPs), particularly those bearing two functional groups on distinct decks, constitute privileged scaffolds for circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials owing to their inherent stable planar chirality and unique optoelectronic properties. Nevertheless, the efficie...

Scaffolds with flexible bond exit vectors are essential in bioisosteric design, enabling adaptive molecular recognition of conformationally dynamic targets, and fine-tuning key physicochemical properties. Despite this potential, current benzene bioisosteres based on bicyclo[n.1.1]alkanes are confined to three-dimension...
