Abstract

The modern day digital world is virtually entirely run on web applications, which can be used in social media and banking, e-commerce and even healthcare. However, they also continue to get increasingly targetable to advanced cyberattacks such as SQL injection and cross site scripting and command based injection as they get more and more complicated. Old school protection mechanisms such as rule based web application firewalls (WAFs) and other old school security mechanisms are usually ineffective due to reliance with changing, obfuscated or zero day attack. This is why the current work offers a semantic and context aware detection system, which is based on transformer architecture i.e., on Bidirectional Encoder Representations of Transformer architecture. This entire workflow consist of pre processed data, textual feature extraction, transformer based model training and benchmark set data collections. This is because the model is better able to generalize by using real world traffic conditions an not predetermined set of rules, false positive minimized and pattern known and unknown attacks are identified. This method of semantic learning, even when compared with conventional methods, actually increases the detection accuracy, adaptability and scalability

Extracting Attack Pattern From WAF Logs and CTIs Using Contrastive Semantic Learning

Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) are widely deployed to protect web services, but their rule-based design provides limited visibility into attacker intent. WAF logs consist primarily of low-level HTTP artifacts that lack the behavioral context required for effective threat analysis. To address this limitation, we propo...

AI-Assisted Web Server Log Interpretation Using LLaMA Model

Modern web infrastructures generate large volumes of access logs that contain valuable information related to system activity, user behaviour, performance monitoring, and cybersecurity threats. Manual analysis of these logs is time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient for detecting suspicious activities in real time...

SGRL: A Hybrid Semantic-Graph Representation Learning Framework for Software Vulnerability Detection

The increasing scale and complexity of software increase the risk of security vulnerabilities, creating a need for automated and effective detection methods. Transformer-based methods can learn semantic representations but do not fully exploit structural information, whereas graph neural network-based methods remain li...

WADE: An LSTM-Based Anomaly Detection Engine for WebAssembly Applications

WebAssembly (Wasm) enables near-native performance for web applications through a portable and sandboxed execution model. However, its limited runtime protection mechanisms (e.g., the lack of stack canaries and address space layout randomization (ASLR)) leave Wasm applications vulnerable to traditional attacks. We pres...
