The sustainable company in the academic literature: a bibliometric analysis

Objective: The sustainable company has drawn considerable interest over time as shown by the dataset that contains research papers spanning from 1982 to 2026. The objective of this article is to present a comprehensive overview of this subject and its evolution over time. Methodology: A bibliometric analysis is performed on the Web of Science database. No time filter was applied and 5563 articles from business-related categories were analyzed using Bibliometrix , a package of R Studio. Findings: The firsts papers were published between 1980-2000 and analyzed the corporate accountability for the social and physical environment, while exploring frameworks for creating sustainable companies. Over the next two decades, the focus shifted to sustainable business models, financial impact and company-level strategies. After COVID-19 crisis, sustainable supply chain management, circular economy, green innovations and ESG performance gained more interest, representing possible directions of future research. The main keywords cluster presents the close link between sustainability, performance, management and innovation. Performance is the theme that draws the most interest, being one of the most used keywords. The second cluster indicates the importance of governance in reaching social and environment objectives while the last one mentions the importance of SDGs and ethics within the CSR activities. The research is fragmented, both in the analyzed themes and in the author's collaboration network, with the EU countries being one of the biggest producers of cited research papers next to USA, China and UK

A bibliometric mapping of global research trends and future directions in entrepreneurial training

Mapping the Research Frontier of Business Continuity Management: A Bibliometric Analysis

This study addresses Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) research, while significant theoretical gaps remain in finance-specific frameworks and emerging market applications. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 491 journal articles retrieved from Scopus and OpenAlex using a structured search query combining “business continuity” with terms encompassing methodology, frameworks, and organizational resilience, covering the period from 2010 to 2026. The analysis employed publication trend mapping, source and author productivity assessment, geographic distribution analysis, and thematic and conceptual mapping to offer an in-depth review of the BCM research frontier. Results show that BCM has evolved as a multidisciplinary field with resilient publication activity and a concentrated core of productive journals and author contributors from diverse nations. Thematic mapping identifies motor themes including finance, economics, and marketing of business, technology, and risk management in computer science and security. Geographic analysis shows that developed economies with emerging markets playing a role. Two significant research deficiencies are identified: the lack of specialized finance-oriented BCM frameworks that tackle regulatory complexity and systemic risk, and the inadequate adaptation of BCM practices to the contexts of emerging markets. These findings provide for future research to develop BCP models, contextualize BCM for emerging economies, and embed continuity governance within broader strategic and digital transformation architectures.

COMMUNITY ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SMEs: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF GLOBAL RESEARCH TRENDS 2022–2026

This study aims to map global research trends on community economic empowerment through Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) using a bibliometric analysis approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database comprising 102 unique articles published between 2022 and 2026. The analysis encompasses publication distribution by year, most-cited documents, countries with the highest productivity, dominant research themes, and mapping of the most frequently appearing keywords. Results indicate a significant surge in publications during 2025–2026, with dominant themes including women's economic empowerment, SME digitalization, sustainability, and financial inclusion. India and China emerged as the most productive countries, contributing 28 and 22 articles respectively. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the research landscape in economic empowerment and serves as a guide for researchers in identifying relevant research gaps for future investigation.

MAPPING FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH IN EMERGING ECONOMIES

This study aims to map and analyze the development of research on financial technology and economic sustainability in emerging economies using a bibliometric analysis approach. Bibliographic data were collected from the Scopus database covering publications from 2018 to 2025. A total of 101 documents were analyzed using Microsoft Excel, VOS viewer, and Harzing’s Publish or Perish to identify publication trends, dominant research themes, country contributions, and citation structures. The findings indicate that research on fintech and economic sustainability has experienced significant growth, particularly after 2023, reflecting increasing academic interest in digital financial transformation and sustainable development. The keyword co-occurrence analysis reveals that the dominant research themes include fintech, sustainability, financial inclusion, green finance, environmental sustainability, and digital innovation. Country analysis shows that China and India are the leading contributors to this research area, while citation analysis demonstrates that sustainability-oriented fintech studies, particularly those related to green finance and ESG practices, have become the most influential topics in recent literature. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive bibliometric mapping of fintech and sustainability research in emerging economies and offers useful insights for researchers, policymakers, and financial practitioners regarding future research directions and sustainable digital financial development.
