Abstract
This study examined the moderating role of innovation in the relationship between supply chain management practices and sustainability performance among manufacturing firms in the North Rift Region of Kenya. The study focused on lean, resilient and green supply chain management practices. An explanatory cross-sectional research design was adopted. The target population comprised 500 senior, middle and lower-level managers from manufacturing firms operating in the region. A sample of 222 respondents was selected through stratified random sampling, and 207 completed questionnaires were returned, representing a response rate of 93.2%. Primary data were collected using structured questionnaires based on a five-point Likert scale. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, reliability and validity tests, correlation analysis, multiple regression and hierarchical moderation analysis. The findings showed that firm sustainability performance had a mean score of 3.9855, while lean, resilient and green supply chain management practices and innovation had mean scores of 4.0491, 3.7005, 3.8068 and 3.4839, respectively. Reliability coefficients ranged from 0.751 to 0.898, indicating acceptable internal consistency. Regression results showed that lean, resilient and green supply chain management practices had positive and significant effects on sustainability performance. Innovation also had a positive and significant direct effect and strengthened each practice-performance relationship. The final model explained 90.8% of the variance in sustainability performance. The study concludes that manufacturing firms may achieve stronger sustainability outcomes when supply chain practices are supported by innovation capabilities.
Purpose: This study investigates the impact of four green supply chain management (GSCM) practices—eco-design, green procurement, green manufacturing, and green distribution—on firm performance, while examining the mediating role of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) among manufacturing firms in Pakistan's textile industry.
Approach: Grounded in a positivist research philosophy, the study adopts a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected through a structured, five-point Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 150 managers, supervisors, and supply chain professionals working in textile manufacturing firms located in Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, and Multan, using a convenience sampling technique. Data were analysed using SPSS for descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, and Pearson correlation, and AMOS for confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modelling (SEM), and bootstrapped mediation testing.
Findings: The measurement model demonstrated sound reliability (overall Cronbach's α = .913) and adequate sampling adequacy (KMO = .843, Bartlett's test significant, p < .001). Eco-design (β = .410), green procurement (β = .194), green manufacturing (β = .191), and green distribution (β = .165) each exerted a significant positive effect on firm performance, and SSCM itself was a strong positive predictor of firm performance (β = .678). However, SSCM significantly mediated only the relationship between eco-design and firm performance (β = .329, p < .001); its mediating role in the relationships involving green procurement, green manufacturing, and green distribution was not statistically supported.
Contributions: The study extends the Resource-Based View by demonstrating that GSCM practices function as valuable, rare, and difficult-to-imitate resources that translate into performance gains, partly through sustainable supply chain capabilities. Textile manufacturers should prioritize eco-design initiatives and strengthen the sustainable supply chain infrastructure required to convert broader green practices into measurable performance outcomes.
Originality value: This is among the first studies to empirically test SSCM as a mediating mechanism between multiple GSCM dimensions and firm performance within Pakistan's textile sector, an emerging-economy context where such evidence remains scarce.

Green supply chain management (GSCM) has become a strategic requirement for industrial firms seeking to reduce environmental harm while improving long-term sustainability performance. Despite growing interest in green procurement, eco-design, green manufacturing, and green distribution, limited empirical evidence explains how these practices are converted into sustainability performance through collaborative environmental action in the Sultanate of Oman. Guided by the Natural Resource-Based View, this study examines the effects of four GSCM practices on environmental collaboration and investigates the mediating role of environmental collaboration in the relationship between GSCM practices and sustainability performance. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain professionals working in Omani industries. From 520 questionnaires distributed, 342 valid responses were retained for analysis. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS 4.0 and partial least squares structural equation modelling. The measurement model demonstrated acceptable reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The structural results show that eco-design, green procurement, green manufacturing, and green distribution have significant positive effects on environmental collaboration. Environmental collaboration, in turn, has a strong positive effect on sustainability performance. The indirect effects also support the mediation of the relationships between the GSCM practices and the sustainability performance, confirming the mediation chain. The results indicated that green practices are not enough; they have to be integrated with the collaboration of suppliers, customers, logistics and other functions within the company to make green practices produce results in terms of performance. The study adds to GSCM and sustainability literature by providing a relational mechanism that determines the contribution of green practices to the industrial sustainability of the Oman context.

This study examined the relationship between Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) and customer–market performance in manufacturing companies in Delta State, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to assess the relationship between SSCM and customer patronage and to determine its relationship with product market performance in selected manufacturing firms.
A correlational research design was adopted. The population comprised supply chain personnel in selected manufacturing companies in Delta State, Nigeria, and a purposive sampling technique was used to select 52 respondents. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using correlation statistics. Findings revealed a very strong positive relationship between SSCM and customer patronage, as well as a significant positive relationship between SSCM and product market performance. The study concludes that SSCM significantly enhances both customer patronage and product market performance in manufacturing firms. The study recommends that suppliers align with sustainability standards; the government should provide incentives to encourage SSCM adoption; investors should support alignment of supply chain strategies with market needs; and customers should provide feedback to improve product and sustainability performance.

This study contributes by examining the impact of lean and green practices on sustainable supply chain performance, focusing specifically on songket artisan small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bali, Indonesia. The study examines the moderating effects of top management engagement, organisational change management, collaborative synergy, and policy initiatives. The population under investigation comprised 2,194 songket artisan groups, as recorded by the Bali Provincial Trade and Industry Office. Using the Slovin formula, a sample of 584 artisan groups was selected from nine regencies and one municipality in Bali Province. Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling was employed to ensure proportional representation in the selection process. Data collection was conducted using a 1–5 Likert-scale questionnaire, and data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS). The findings imply that the lean practices positively influence green practices, thereby enhancing the sustainable supply chain performance. Green practices act as a mediator in the relationship between lean practices and sustainability outcomes. Furthermore, organisational change management and collaborative synergy strengthen these positive effects, whereas top management engagement and policy initiatives do not play a significant moderating role. These results highlight the need to integrate lean and green strategies, supported by effective organisational and collaborative mechanisms, to improve supply chain sustainability in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), offering valuable insights for both theoretical and practical applications in sustainable operations management.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of sustainable supplier relationship management on supply chain resilience among manufacturing firms.
Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low-cost advantage as compared to field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries.
Findings: The reviewed literature established that Sustainable Supplier Relationship Management positively influences Supply Chain Resilience by enhancing supplier collaboration, trust, supplier development, and information sharing, enabling manufacturing firms to respond effectively to supply chain disruptions. The studies further revealed that strong supplier relationships improve flexibility, operational continuity, risk management, and recovery from disruptions. However, conceptual, contextual, and geographical gaps remain, highlighting the need for further research on the effect of sustainable supplier relationship management on supply chain resilience among manufacturing firms.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Dynamic capabilities theory, resource-based view & social exchange theory may be used to anchor future studies on analyze the effect of sustainable supplier relationship management on supply chain resilience among manufacturing firms. Organizations should invest in supplier development programs, supplier performance evaluation systems, joint innovation initiatives, and real-time information-sharing platforms to strengthen collaboration across the supply chain. Governments and regulatory agencies should formulate policies that encourage sustainable supplier relationship management practices across the manufacturing sector.
