Let $d\ge1$ and $V\in C(\mathbb{T}^d;\mathbb{C})$. We prove that the Bloch variety of $-\Delta+V$ is irreducible modulo periodicity. The proof combines holomorphic continuation of spectral band functions with integer translations of quasimomentum. Using analytic geometry and perturbation estimates along imaginary rays, we show that, after suitable integer translations, all irreducible components contain the same holomorphic spectral branch.
For periodic Schr\"odinger operators $H_V=-\Delta+V$ with bounded real-valued potentials on $\mathbb R^d$ with $d\ge2$, we show that for generic potentials, each endpoint of every spectral gap is attained by a single Bloch band at only finitely many quasimomenta, and has a nondegenerate Hessian at every attaining point...
We prove the strong unique continuation property for the fractional Schr\"odinger equation \[ (-\Delta)^s u=Vu \] with scaling-critical potentials $ V\in L^{\frac{n}{2s}}_{\mathrm{loc}}$ for all $0<s<1$. Our result constitutes the nonlocal counterpart to the classical Jerison--Kenig result for Schr\"odinger operators.
In this paper, we consider one-dimensional discrete Schr\"odinger operators \begin{align} Hu(n)=(\Delta+V)u(n)\nonumber \end{align} on $\ell^2(\mathbb{N})$ with a self-adjoint boundary condition at $n=0$, where $\Delta$ denotes the discrete Laplacian and $V(n)$ is a real-valued perturbation satisfying $$V(n)=\frac{O(1)...
We prove sharp lower bounds for the Schr\"odinger maximal function on the torus T^d for all dimensions d at least 2, and as a corollary obtain sharp regularity conditions for pointwise convergence of the periodic Schr\"odinger equation. Combined with sufficiency results established by Compaan-Luc\'a-Staffilani, this yi...
We construct, for every $d\ge 5$, a nonnegative radial potential $V\in L^\infty_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\})\cap L^1(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for which $V(-\Delta\dotplus V)^{-1}$ is not bounded on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$.
We prove that a scalar tau-symmetric Hamiltonian deformation of the Riemann hierarchy in generalized standard form is uniquely determined by the nonzero coefficient of $u_x^2$ and the coefficients of $u_{xx}^g$, $g\ge2$, in its first Hamiltonian density. This determines the original hierarchy up to normal Miura transfo...
