Abstract
Conjugated rod-coil block copolymers provide a promising route to decouple the optimisation of ionic and electronic transport in organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs). Poly(3-alkoxythiophene) (P3AOT)-based rod-coil block copolymers with precisely tuned polyethylene glycol (PEG), and poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) coil blocks are synthesised through a modular approach combining Kumada coupling transfer polymerisation (KCTP) and Knoevenagel condensation. An evaluation of the thin film morphology and subsequent OECT performance of a range of rod-coil copolymers reveals that device performance can be enhanced compared to the corresponding homopolymer, establishing rod-coil block copolymers as a versatile material platform and providing fundamental insight for the use of block copolymer in OECTs.
An ABA-type block copolymer with A-blocks based on poly[(4-phenyl)benzyl methacrylate] and a B-block consisting of a random copolymer of an anionic monomer bearing Li+ and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate was synthesized by the RAFT polymerization. The molar masses (76.4 kDa) and mass ratio of ionic and...

ABSTRACT The one‐pot synthesis of apolar‐polar block copolymers combining polyolefins with polyesters has been a long‐standing challenge in polymer chemistry. Despite broad‐reaching applications of apolar‐polar block copolymers in drug delivery, compatibilisation of polymer blends and biomedical materials, their synthe...

Conventionally, the development of high-performance organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) devices heavily depends on side-chain optimization of glycolated and alkylated organic mixed ionic-electronic conducting polymers (OMIECs), which typically leads to a compromise between solubility and performance. In this stud...

Poly(1,4-phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is a super-engineering plastic with a low weight and excellent thermostability for automobile and electronic applications. However, it exhibits poor adhesiveness and compatibility with other materials owing to its low polar and semicrystalline nature with strong π-π intermolecular inte...
Polymer-derived porous carbon nanomaterials are pivotal for addressing global challenges, particularly in energy storage as well as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). Herein, we report a facile one-pot synthetic route to block copolymer (BCP) precursors for mesoporous carbons using a photo-iniferter rever...
