Abstract
The transition from fossil‐based resources to renewable feedstocks is a cornerstone of industrial decarbonization. Among renewable resources, lignin stands out as a promising candidate due to its wide availability, abundance, and non‐competitiveness with food production, making it an ideal starting material for a sustainable chemical industry. Herein, an oxidative depolymerization strategy for the polyoxometalate (POM)‐catalyzed valorization of technical lignins to monoaromatic compounds like vanillin, methyl vanillate, syringaldehyde, and methyl syringate is demonstrated. Compared to existing research, this work systematically compares the catalytic oxidation of various technical lignins through a rigorous study of lignin type, solvent composition, reaction conditions, and POM catalyst. It elegantly combines the highly selective H

Vanillin is one of the most representative lignin depolymerization products and is widely employed as a substrate in thermocatalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) systems. Controllable synthesis of different products from vanillin HDO is significant because of the diverse applications of these compounds. This work aimed t...

Lignin is a renewable aromatic resource, yet its efficient depolymerization requires metal catalysts under high temperature, pressure, and strong base. This study employed ozone as a clean oxidant for lignin depolymerization under mild, catalyst- and base-free conditions. Grass lignin, rich in p-coumaric acid (pCA), fe...

The structural complexity and chemical heterogeneity of lignin present a formidable barrier to its use as a sustainable replacement for petroleum-derived aromatics. Here, we report a robust, earth-abundant copper/nitroxyl catalytic system that achieves the aerobic oxidative funneling of crude, non-pre-fractionated redu...

Sustainable development has driven intensive research on the oxidation of lignin‐derived phenolics for fine‐chemical production. Selective catalysis, particularly chemodivergent catalysis, plays a crucial role in synthetic chemistry. In this context, chemoselective oxidation of lignin‐based vanillyl alcohol to vanill...

This research focuses on the catalytic dehydration of methyl 12-hydroxystearate, a derivative of non-edible castor oil, into methyl oleate using vanadia-pillared montmorillonite catalysts modified with zirconium, iron, and cerium. Structural and physicochemical analyses were conducted to establish correlations between...
