Digitalization of a Web-Based Queuing System Using the Agile Methodology
Abstract
The barbershop service industry in Indonesia is expanding rapidly, yet many establishments still rely on conventional, manual queuing systems. These traditional methods often lead to unpredictable waiting times, crowded waiting areas, and scheduling conflicts, ultimately degrading the quality of customer service and operational efficiency. This research aims to design and develop a web-based queuing system utilizing the Agile methodology to streamline operational workflows and evaluate the system's functional readiness for real-world application. By transitioning to a robust digital platform built on the Laravel framework and MySQL database, the proposed system enables seamless online reservations, dynamic schedule management, and real-time queue monitoring. System analysis was comprehensively conducted using the Context-Element-Scope (CES) and Functional-Non-Functional (FNF) frameworks to meticulously map both operational bottlenecks and technical requirements. The Agile approach ensures continuous iteration, adaptive flexibility, and strict alignment with user requirements across the planning, design, development, and testing phases. Furthermore, comprehensive Black Box testing evaluations confirmed the system's functional correctness, yielding a 100% success rate across all core modules. This outcome validates the structural integrity of the authentication perimeter, the real-time queuing algorithm, and the transaction management workflows. Ultimately, this digitalization effort provides a scalable, data-driven prototype designed to modernize barbershop management, with the potential to reduce physical congestion and optimize service delivery in the grooming industry.
