Abstract

The increasing demand for accessible healthcare services, coupled with the shortage of medical professionals and geographical barriers, highlights the need for intelligent digital healthcare solutions. Traditional medical chatbots are largely limited to text-based interactions, lacking the ability to process multimodal inputs such as speech and medical images, thereby restricting their effectiveness in real-world scenarios. This paper presents DawAI, a multimodal AI-powered virtual medical assistant designed to simulate real-time doctor– patient interactions. The system integrates advanced technologies including speech-to-text conversion for interpreting spoken symptoms, image-based analysis for visual medical inputs, and large language models for generating contextaware medical responses. Additionally, a text-to-speech module enables the system to deliver responses in a natural, human-like voice, enhancing user accessibility and interaction. DawAI operates through a unified architecture that processes voice and image inputs, performs multimodal reasoning, and generates informative, empathetic responses within seconds. A structured dataset comprising symptom descriptions, severity levels, and precautionary measures supports the system’s reasoning capability, ensuring coherent and medically relevant outputs. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the system provides consistent and context-sensitive responses while maintaining real-time performance. By addressing the limitations of existing healthcare chatbots, DawAI offers a scalable, accessible, and user-friendly solution for preliminary medical consultation, particularly benefiting users in remote and resource-constrained environments.

A Multilingual AI-Powered Mental Health Chatbot Using Gemini API with Conversational Memory and Voice Interaction

Mental health challenges have become increasingly common among students, working professionals, and individuals facing academic pressure, workplace stress, emotional instability, and social isolation [1], [2]. Due to social stigma, limited access to professional counseling, high consultation costs, and language barriers, many people hesitate to seek timely psychological support [3]. To overcome this problem an AI-powered multilingual mental health chatbot designed to provide immediate emotional assistance through natural and supportive conversation. The paper proposes using Google Gemini API integrated with a Flask-based backend and a responsive web interface, enabling intelligent human-like interactions in English, Kannada, and Hindi. To improve accessibility and user engagement, the chatbot incorporates voice input functionality using browser-based speech recognition, allowing users to communicate through speech in addition to text [4]. The system also maintains conversation history to preserve context and continuity. Unlike traditional rule based chatbots, the proposed model leverages generative artificial intelligence to deliver context-aware, empathetic, and language consistent responses without providing medical diagnosis [5], [6]. Experimental evaluation based on simulated user interactions demonstrates improved response relevance, multilingual consistency, and user satisfaction, with strong performance across standard evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score [7].

MULTI-LINGUAL VOICE AND TEXT ENABLED HOSPITAL CHATBOT FOR HEALTHCARE INFORMATION

Hospitals frequently face challenges in delivering timely and accessible information to patients due to high inquiry volumes, language barriers, and limited staff availability. This paper proposes a multilingual, voice-enabled hospital chatbot that provides real-time assistance through both text and speech interfaces. The proposed system leverages Large Language Model (LLM)-based sentence embeddings using Sentence-BERT for semantic similarity-driven question answering, along with Google Translate API for multilingual support and Google Text-toSpeech for voice responses. The chatbot supports multiple Indian languages, including English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Marathi, enabling inclusive communication across diverse user groups. Designed as a Flask-based web application with a responsive Bootstrap interface, the system aims to achieve effective contextual understanding, reduced response time, and improved accessibility when compared to traditional rule-based hospital inquiry systems. The proposed approach highlights the potential of LLM-driven semantic retrieval-based conversational agents in enhancing patient engagement and improving operational efficiency in healthcare environments.
