Experimental Validation of Aerodynamic Processes Digital Models
Abstract
The study is addressed to validation of numerical studies and an aerodynamic experiment for assessing the wind impact on a high-rise building and comparing them with the data provided by the code of regulations. Three approaches to calculating the wind load are under consideration: according to the regulatory document; an experiment in a wind tunnel; numerical modeling using the ANSYS CFX software. The comparative analysis of the calculation results is given. Expected lack of the regulatory approach informativity in assessing the wind impact on a building with a non-standard geometric shape has been revealed. The numerical simulation results demonstrate high convergence with the physical experiment, confirming their importance for predicting the aerodynamic characteristics of complex architectural forms. The need to introduce the numerical methods into the building design process and modeling techniques enhancement to improve calculations accuracy is emphasized. This will create prerequisites for the digital support for an object aerodynamic characteristics forecasting.
