Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital learning environments has transformed higher education, making learning management systems essential for supporting teaching and learning. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Google Classroom in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes across three Algerian universities. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 300 first-year undergraduate students from diverse academic disciplines. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, independent-samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression techniques. The findings indicate that Google Classroom is perceived as an accessible and effective digital learning platform that improves learning flexibility, communication, and academic engagement. Institutional differences were observed, suggesting that technological infrastructure and instructional practices influence students' learning experiences. The results further demonstrate that students' perceived engagement and platform usability are significant predictors of learning outcomes. The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening digital infrastructure, supporting faculty professional development, and promoting evidence-based integration of learning technologies in higher education. These findings contribute to the growing literature on digital learning in emerging higher education systems and provide practical implications for educational policy and institutional digital transformation.
