Abstract

The article presents a methodology for the fabrication of specimen fragments of CLT panels without fire protection and with fire-protective cladding consisting of single-layer and double-layer gypsum plasterboards, developed using computer modeling in the SolidWorks software environment. The aim of this study is to develop a methodology for the fabrication of specimen fragments of CLT panels without fire protection and with fire-protective cladding based on gypsum plasterboards, intended for subsequent fire testing to investigate the behavior of CLT panels under high-temperature exposure in accordance with the standard temperature–time fire curve. To achieve the stated aim, the following tasks are to be accomplished: to analyze current research and assess the relevance of the use of CLT panels in construction; to develop computer models of CLT panel specimens without fire protection and with fire-protective cladding in single-layer and double-layer configurations based on gypsum plasterboards using the SolidWorks software package; and to develop a methodology for the fabrication of CLT specimen fragments, specifying the number of specimens, the type of fire-protective cladding, and the series of fire tests in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Effects of Protective Covering Configurations on the Fire Behavior and Charring Characteristics of Korean Larch Cross-Laminated Timber Walls

Protective coverings are an effective means of preventing direct fire exposure and delaying the charring of cross-laminated timber (CLT). This study evaluated the effects of practical covering configurations on the fire behavior and charring characteristics of four Korean larch CLT wall assemblies through 120-min fire...

Tool concepts and part characteristics of simultaneously formed sheet metal and long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic components

This study investigates a hybrid forming process for the simultaneous manufacturing of complex parts consisting of sheet metal and long fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (LFT), specifically glass fiber-reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6 GF40). This approach integrates sheet metal forming and LFT compression molding within a sin...

Design and Fabrication of Die and Punch Components for the Piercing-Coining Process of AA 1100-O Aluminum Plate

The preparation of aluminium workpieces for anodizing at Jakarta State Polytechnic is currently performed manually using a hacksaw and metal file, resulting in a production time of more than 60 min/workpiece. This study focuses on the design and fabrication of punch and die components for an existing die machine by app...

Cross-Study of Techniques for the Analysis of Deformations Generated in the Injection Molding Process

Injection molding is a plastic material processing technique used in the polymer industry. Because it is a complex process that requires injection cycles to achieve the desired aesthetic quality in the molded parts, it is essential to evaluate and configure all process parameters to predict and reduce defects, thereby...

Investigation of the Behavior of Steel I-Beams with Mineral Wool Fire Insulation Cladding during Fire Exposure

The paper explores the mechanisms of integrity failure of fire insulating cladding made of mineral wool materials applied to a steel I-beam. A model of the structure was developed in the LS-DYNA software package, taking into account the dead weight of the element, the applied mechanical load, and the temperature effect...

Requirements Don’t Live in Isolation: What We’re Exploring with Req-Space

Requirements in large systems rarely exist in isolation. Their meaning depends on the wider project context - other requirements, policies, decisions, tests, and implementation details. That becomes especially important when AI is used for review, because spotting a possible conflict or gap is only the beginning. ReqSpace explores how AI, visualisation, and connected project context can help reviewers understand those findings, trace the relationships behind them, and focus on the questions that…
