Integrated Robotic Approach for Assembly and Disassembly of Bolted Systems in Composite Buildings
Abstract
Sustainable construction increasingly depends on practices that enable not only efficient construction but also the deconstruction and reuse of structural components. However, the construction sector, characterized by its vast scale and inherent occupational risks, lacks mature solutions for the automation of such deconstruction processes. This technological gap has driven the development of a robotic system designed as a proof of concept for the autonomous disassembly of bolts, alongside its corresponding Digital Twin, which is essential for simulation, accessibility verification and remote monitoring. This article describes the system's architecture, demonstrates its functional feasibility and identifies requirements for improvements in active control and hardware, which will be addressed in subsequent optimization stages, converging toward a robust solution applicable in industrial environments.
