Findings indicated that the statistically significant decrease in serum potassium level and the detected histopathological alterations in heart and brain tissues specifically could be considered as characteristic biomarkers of barium toxicity in fish.
Combined exposure to bifenthrin–chlorpyrifos and bifenthrin–endosulfan mixtures induces pronounced oxidative stress and genotoxic damage in C. catla and L. rohita, highlighting the usefulness of antioxidant and DNA damage biomarkers for monitoring pesticide contamination in aquatic environments.

As aquaculture intensifies, Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus is increasingly susceptible to parasitic infections. This study evaluated the safety and physiological effects of praziquantel (PQ) in tilapia. PQ was administered orally at 50 mg/kg (recommended dose) and 125 mg/kg biomass/day (supratherapeutic dose) for 3...

Chemical pollution from industrial, agricultural, and urban activities represents a major threat to freshwater ecosystems and aquatic organisms. This study evaluated hepatic biomarker responses in Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) maintained under chronic environmental exposure to water from the Iguaçu River, one of...

It is demonstrated that flubendiamide induces multi-level toxicity in A. testudineus and underscores its ecological risk in aquatic environments and General Unified Threshold models of Survival provided robust predictions of survival dynamics.

In water-scarce Egypt, aquaculture relies on agricultural drainage water, raising health concerns. Water and Nile tilapia were sampled seasonally from four sites (drainage versus Nile freshwater). Lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and mercury (Hg) were measured in water and fish tissues by ICP-MS and FAAS. Bioacc...

Polypropylene microplastics (PP‐MPs) are widely distributed in aquatic environments and may harm fish through ingestion. Despite growing research on microplastic toxicity, very limited study prevails on the pernicious impacts of waterborne PP‐MPs on Nile tilapia. Hence, this study aims to examine the impact of PP‐M...
