Abstract
Model compression — quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation — is widely adopted on the premise that a smaller model costs less energy to run. This review examines the measurement layer beneath that premise and finds it less settled than its adoption suggests. Drawing on a purposively assembled corpus of 53 works (2019–2026), supplemented by a logged literature search that tested six specific absence claims, the review traces why compression's energy benefit is not guaranteed: software energy estimators and hardware counters disagree by margins comparable to the savings compression claims to deliver; floating-point operation counts correlate weakly with measured energy once memory bandwidth, batch size, and backend kernel realization are taken into account; and compression rankings established on one hardware platform do not reliably transfer to another. A controlled evaluation would need to hold the measurement instrument, workload, and protocol fixed while compression state and platform vary, and no study in the corpus does so. The review's central contribution is not the observation that compression is unpredictable, but an account of the mechanisms — memory-bound execution, batch-size regime, and backend realization — that explain when and why it fails, together with a research agenda built around three of the resulting gaps: measurement-tool validation on compressed models, the nominal-versus-realized compression gap, and cross-platform rank-order preservation under a matched protocol.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The results show that the embedded industry has been able to apply agile methods in its development processes and that the appreciation of the agile methods and their individual practices appears to increase once adopted and applied in practice.

Requirements in large systems rarely exist in isolation. Their meaning depends on the wider project context - other requirements, policies, decisions, tests, and implementation details. That becomes especially important when AI is used for review, because spotting a possible conflict or gap is only the beginning. ReqSpace explores how AI, visualisation, and connected project context can help reviewers understand those findings, trace the relationships behind them, and focus on the questions that…
AI is making software generation faster, but speed does not remove the need for expertise. As more work is delegated to AI, tacit knowledge may become one of the most important human advantages in software engineering.
