Drought is a major abiotic stress that limits crop growth and productivity by inducing physiological and biochemical changes.
Trachyspermum ammi
L. is cultivated in arid and semi‐arid regions and is susceptible to drought stress. Osmoregulators like glycine betaine (GB) are known to enhance plant tolerance by regulating internal metabolic processes. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of GB foliar application on the physiological and morphological attributes of
T. ammi
under drought conditions. A pot experiment was conducted with three treatments: water spray (control), 5 mM GB, and 10 mM GB, whereas drought stress was maintained at 60% field capacity. Drought stress significantly decreased growth‐related attributes. Further, it has been noticed that the drought stress significantly increased the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) in
T. ammi
. Application of GB at 10 mM significantly increased POD (41.2%) and CAT (312.3%) activities, whereas 5 mM GB led to the highest increase in ascorbate POD (100%) under drought stress. Foliar application of GB also mitigated the adverse effects, improving growth‐related attributes, photosynthetic pigments, and ions uptake and decreasing malondialdehyde (MDA) and H

. Among treatments, 10 mM GB exhibited greater efficiency under drought, whereas 5 mM GB was more beneficial under control conditions. Taken together, the findings suggest that GB could serve as a potential drought‐mitigating agent for
T. ammi
cultivation.
Drought stress in agricultural land disrupts the physiological processes, growth, and yield of kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala). This study evaluated the physiological responses, growth, and yield of kale treated with salicylic acid, a potential strategy to enhance plant tolerance to drought stress, in a green...

Drought stress constrains the growth and medicinal quality of
Glycyrrhiza uralensis
, but the concentration-dependent physiological basis of exogenous glycine betaine (GB)-mediated stress alleviation remains incompletely understood.
Seedlings were grown in a controlled pot experiment with one 45% m...
The study was carried out to analyse the morphological, physiological and biochemical responses of Dianthus chinensisunder salt stress conditions during the year 2022-23 at Landscape Nursery, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Six NaCl concentrations (T1 to T6: 0 mM, 40 mM, 80 mM, 120 mM, 160 mM, and 200 mM) wer...

Salinity is a major abiotic constraint limiting mango (Mangifera indica L.) production, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. This study evaluated the effects of foliar application of glycine betaine (GB) and algae extract (AE) on the growth, physiological, biochemical, and anatomical responses of two mango roots...

Marigolds are plants of high aesthetic value that can grow in various climatic conditions. However, increasing drought conditions threaten their use in sustainable landscape designs. Developing strategies to reduce drought stress is essential. Elicitors like harpin proteins have been used to boost plant stress toleranc...

Salinity constrains tropical fruit production, yet the physiological and metabolic responses of Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa to salt stress and glycine betaine (GB) remain insufficiently characterized. Passion fruit seedlings were evaluated in a completely randomized 2 × 3 factorial design with two GB treatment...
