Understanding narrative structures, linguistic choices, and stylistic devices in English literature to optimize content creation for digital marketing platforms

Abstract

This study explores how narrative structures, linguistic choices, and stylistic devices derived from English literature can be strategically applied to optimize digital marketing content in Pakistan. As Pakistani digital platforms become increasingly competitive and content-saturated, marketers require approaches that move beyond conventional promotional communication toward content that is engaging, persuasive, memorable, culturally relevant, and platform appropriate. A qualitative interpretive research design was employed, using semi-structured interviews with 17 Pakistani participants with experience in digital marketing, content creation, copywriting, communication, and English language and literature. The interview data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, resulting in six major themes: narrative structures as the foundation of engaging content; linguistic choices for audience connection and accessibility; stylistic devices for memorability and persuasion; AI-assisted content creation adaptation of literary techniques; emotional engagement, persuasion and consumer connection; and human creativity, literary expertise and AI-assisted content creation. The findings culminate in a Literary-Digital Content Optimization Framework integrating audience, narrative, linguistic, stylistic, cultural, platform, AI, and performance considerations. The study contributes a practical and theoretically grounded approach for Pakistani marketers and content creators seeking to develop more engaging, persuasive, authentic, and human-centered digital communication.
