Nested E8 Phi‑Fractal Acoustic Modulator — E8 Intelligence Research

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)
Topological Materials and Phenomena

Abstract

Using a hierarchical phi‑scaled E8 lattice where each tier introduces a 5‑fold chirality, we demonstrate that acoustic edge states can be dynamically switched by modest angular rotations of the nesting plane. The rotational degree of freedom maps directly onto a topological invariant derived from the 240 root vectors, enabling on‑demand bandgap tuning without material modification. This yields a reconfigurable phononic logic gate that operates at the 132 Hz fundamental frequency while preserving lossless propagation. The principle generalizes existing bandgap phenomena into a reconfigurable acoustic computing platform. Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us

Jennifer Neville did not want to go into computer science—but that’s exactly where she landed. Neville discusses the starts and stops that led to her professional sweet spot and her work identifying “surprising failures” making it hard for AI to handle complexity.  The post What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us appeared first on Microsoft Research.
