ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH RISK FROM EXPOSURE TO CO2 AND PM2.5

Aug 2026 · ChemChemTech · 0 citations

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the level of risk to the environment and public health from exposure to CO2 and PM2.5. Such a study analyzes data on the concentrations of these substances in the atmosphere, as well as the associated risks of developing cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, digestive system diseases, as well as skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases. The data obtained indicate that air pollution in India in 2024 amounted to 50.6 μg/m3. Air pollution in China was 31.0 μg/m3, in Russia it was 9.8 μg/m3, in Japan it was 8.6 μg/m3, and in the United States it was 7.1 μg/m3. The data shows that the highest increase in mortality from diseases of the respiratory tract, skin and subcutaneous tissue, and the digestive system is observed in India, where the level of air pollution is the highest. China ranks second in terms of mortality from these diseases and air pollution. Thus, it can be said that CO2 emissions and fine particulate matter PM2.5 have a significant impact on public health in China, the United States, India, Russia, and Japan. Based on correlation and regression analysis, a forecast for CO2 and PM2.5 emissions in 2026 was made.
